Albert (Jay) Desgrange, 60, Liberty Center, a mechanic for Fred R. Creager and son, Liberty Center, was dead on arrival Wedncsday at Heller Memorial Hospital, Napoleon.
He was born September 15, 1914 in Pleasant Bend, the son of Charles and Bertha (Parcher) Desgrange. He married Ruth Crawford June 15, 1946 and she survives.
The deceased owned and operated the Cedars Garage at Liberty Center for 22 years, and played Santa Claus in the Liberty Center area during the holiday season for many years.
He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Liberty Center Fire Department, the Liberty Center Athletic Boosters, the Gilbert-Baughman Post 492 of the American Legion, Liberty Center, the Liberty Center V.F.W. Post and Lodge 718 I.O.O.F., Liberty Center.
Surviving are one daughter, Marylyn, Liberty Center; two sons, Alan David and Douglas, both of Liberty Center; a grandson, Chad; five brothers, Chester, Arcadia, Frank, Leipsic, Ernest, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Floyd, Surfside Beach, South Carolina, and Bernard, Pontiac, Michigan; and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Crayne, Toledo, and Mrs. Fred (Viola) Phillips, Portageville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at the Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, after 7 p.m. tonight.
The Henry County Firemen’s Association will conduct services tonight at 7:30 p.m. and the I.O.O.F. Lodge will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Joseph L. Burnette officiating. Interment will be in Youngs Cemetery.
The Gilbert-Baughman Post of the American Legion will conduct graveside services.
