Wife of ex. Co. Commissioner Geo. Daum Passes Away
After a lingering illness the widow of the late ex County Commissioner George Daum, and the mother of County Surveyor Frank A. Daum, of this city, died at her home in Liberty Township on Saturday last.
Rachel Spieth, daughter of Gottlieb and Christina Spieth, was born in Ohio, February 23, 1847 and died in her late residence in Liberty Township, Henry County, Ohio, February 12th, 1915, aged 67 years 11 months and 20 days.
She was married to George Daum at Napoleon in 1870 and to this union were born four daughters and one son. Two of the daughters died in infancy. Her husband passed away December 8th, 1912, and one stepdaughter and one stepson also preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn their loss, two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Palmer of Liberty Township and Mrs. Mary Beryl Kessler of Napoleon, and one son, Frank A. Daum of Napoleon, one stepdaughter Adeline Hearthneck of Holgate, two stepsons, Charles H. and William F. Daum of Liberty Township, and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held at the St. John‘s Reformed Church at Liberty Center Tuesday, February 16, 1915, the Rev. J. C. Crider officiating, assisted by Rev. D. C. Martz. Interment was made in Young’s cemetery.
