Belva J. Daum, 78, of Liberty Center passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
She was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Henry County to the late George William and Grace B. (Sharp) Daum.
Surviving are long-time friend, Eloise Dierker, Liberty Center, and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Belva was a United States Postal Service mail carrier in the Liberty Center area for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She was also a farmer in Henry County for many years, from which she retired in 2001.
A 1948 graduate of Liberty Center High School, Belva enjoyed golfing and taking annual trips to Clearwater, Fla., in the winter. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Belva was an excellent softball player and coach in the Michigan/Ohio traveling league in her younger years, reaching the national tournament with her team on four different occasions.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, in the Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home, Liberty Center. Rev. Jim Castello will preside. Committal services and burial will follow at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation is Friday from 2-9 p.m. and Saturday from noon-1 p.m. in the funeral home.
