Funeral services were hold Saturday for Fred R. Creager, 65, who died June 23 at his home on Maple St.
Mr. Creager, who was a road contractor here for 40 years, had been in failing health for the past several months.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, and was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his widow, Ruby; two sons, Ralph and Bruce; two brothers, Harry, of Hamler, and Pearl, of Napoleon; two sisters, Mrs. Irma Robinson of Duncan, British Columbia, Canada; Mrs. Hattie Johnson of Bowling Green, and six grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday afternoon in the Walker Mortuary in Napoleon with the Rev. David Eichar, of Sherwood, officiating. Burial was in Young’s Cemetery.
Obituary
Fred Ralph Creager was born at Cygnet. O., on June 13, 1895. He was the youngest child of William H. and Julia (Pugh) Creager. The family moved to the Hamler, O., area and he had his education in the Hamler School system.
He came to the Liberty Center area approximately 45 years ago and since that time has been engaged in the road construction business.
As a young man, he was interested in baseball and football and played on various teams throughout the county.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Benskin Young in August of 1925. One son, Bruce Fredrick, wns born to this union on Sept. 27, 1927.
In August of 1941, he adopted Ralph Jr. Young, son of Ruby, who had resided with him since August 1925.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby, two sons, Ralph and Bruce; two brothers, Harry of Hamler, and Pearl of Napoleon; two sisters, Lena Robinson of Duncan, British Columbia and Hattie Johnson of Bowling Green and six grandchildren.
He was a member of the Liberty Center Masonic Lodge, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; Elks Lodge of Napoleon and VFW at Liberty Center.
