Paul Vernon Clapp Oct. 17, 1925 - Oct. 30, 2000
Paul Clapp, 75, of Liberty Center died Monday evening at the Fulton County Health Center of Wauseon.
Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Liberty Center, he was the son of John and Laura (Wagner) Clapp. On March 18, 1948, he married Ila Arnold-Hines, who survives.
He was a mechanic at Cyril Ernst Garage of Liberty Center and then for 37 years at Dunbar Drilling Inc. of Swanton, retiring in 1990. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church of Liberty Center, where he was a former trustee and member of the building committee. He was also a member and past master of Liberty Center Lodge #518 F&AM, member and past commander of the Gilbert-Baughman Post #492 American Legion of Liberty Center, and member of V.F.W. Post #6596 of Liberty Center.
He is also survived by two daughters, Cheryl Collier of Delta and Patricia McIntosh of Liberty Center; three sons, Dennis of Napoleon, and David and Steven, both of Liberty Center; a sister, Arleen Weaks of Napoleon; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, Pastor Lynn Huffman officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery of Liberty Center, where military services will be accorded by the American Legion and V.F.W.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wright Funeral Home of Liberty Center, where a Masonic service will be held at 6:30.
