John Tanier Clapp was born in Liberty Township, Henry County, on Feb. 11, 1889, and departed this life July 28, 1966, at the Howard Convalescent Home, Swanton, where he had been a patient just two days. He was the son of Theodore and Mary Tanier Clapp.
On June 7, 1923, he was united in marriage to Laura Wagner, and to this union were born two children, who survive. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 13, 1927.
He was a retired employee of the New York Central Railroad and previous to this was engaged in farming in Liberty Township. He was a member of the Victory Chapel United Brethren Church.
Quiet and shy in manner and disposition, he was a kind and loving father, grandfather and brother and respected by those who knew him.
In passing, he leaves to mourn a daughter, Mrs. Myron (Arleen) Weaks; a son, Paul, both of Liberty Center; two sisters, Mrs. Eugenia Fredrick of Delta and Mrs. Lena Carpenter of Liberty Center, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31 by the Rev. Robert O. Fyffe, pastor of the Liberty Chapel Evangelical United Brethren! Church.
