DEFIANCE, O. — Raymond H. Carpenter, 66, formerly of Defiance, president of the Ray Carpenter Insurance Agency, Aurora, Ill., died Saturday in a St. Charles, Ill., hospital.
Mr. Carpenter was a charter life underwriter, and was president of the national Mutual of Omaha’ General Agents Association, and the local Life Underwriters Association. He also was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Aurora.
A member of the Wauseon, O., Masonic Lodge, and the Valley of Chicago, Scottish Rites, and Medina Temple, Chicago, Mr. Carpenter also headed the Aurora American Red Cross fund-raising activities. He taught U.S. Army, Air Force and Royal Air Force pilots during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Meredith L.; son, Thomas; brother, Arthur, of Fremont, O., and sister, Mrs. Ruby Mae Fuller, of Toledo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church, with graveside services at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Liberty Center, O.
The body is in the Dieterle Mortuary, Aurora.
The family requests that any tributes be in the form of contributions to the Heart Fund.
