Josephine Gae Carpenter, 85, of Liberty Center died Thursday morning at Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.
Born Oct. 13, I 917, in Liberty Center, she was the daughter of Charles and Jenny (Schwanger) Whitmire. On June 3, 1936, she married Randall Carpenter, who survives.
A homemaker, she also worked at Perfection Finishers, Wauseon, for 15 years. She was a member of Victory Chapel United Brethren Church, Liberty Center, and its Women's Missionary Association.
She is also survived by five sons, Robert, Roger and Ray, all of Liberty Center, Richard of Titusville, Fla., and Ronald of Perrysburg; five daughters, Janet Hill and Joan Davis, both of Liberty Center, Judy Loar of Wauseon, Joyce Pacak of Delta and Jean Gerhart of Auburn, Ind.; a sister, Irene Baldwin of Liberty Center; 29 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie Kessler and Gladys Jacquot; and three brothers, Reuben, Leroy and Jay Whitmire.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Victory Chapel United Brethren Church, Pastor Steve Clymer and Pastor Chuck Whitmire officiating. Interment will follow at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center.
