Andrew Henry Carpenter, son of David and Martha Kershner Carpenter, was born October 31, 1859 in Liberty Township, Henry county, Ohio. At the age of five, he, with his parents and brother George and sister Emma moved to this farm.
On April 23, 1882 he was united in marriage to Mary E. Hoffman. To this union were born five children, three daughters and two sons. At the death of his parents he with his wife purchased the homestead and here spent the 51 years of their wedded life.
In 1909 during the Evangelistic services of Rev. Dan Fredrick he was converted to the Christian Faith at Victory Chapel. In 1915, he with his wife joined the Hebron under the pastorate of Rev. Porter, who also baptized him during that year. He remained faithful to his God until the departure of his life, June 15, 1933.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife, three daughters, Blanche Knoll, of Napoleon; Vida Swartzlander, of Toledo; Velma Wahl, of Defiance, and two sons, Guy and Otto, of Toledo, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services were held Sunday at 10 a.m. at the home by Rev. Leatherman, of Colton, Ohio. Interment in Young’s cemetery.
