Robert C. Buttertield, 71, Liberty Center, died Tuesday in Toledo Hospital.
Born October 9, 1909, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son ot Ralph and Katie (O’Keefe) Buttertield. He married Thelma Pauline Sheely in 1933, and she preceded him in death in June, 1946. On February 17, 1951, he married Frieda Beavers Burns, who survives.
Mr. Buttertield was previously a mechanic for Bichan Chevrolet, Liberty Center, a machinist for Markey Bronze Company, Delta, and a machinist for American Gauge Company, Wauseon, from which he retired in 1971. Following his retirement, he worked as a sell-employed painter, retiring from that in 1980.
He was a member of Liberty Center Wesleyan Church; Liberty Center Village Council, 1976 to 1978; Gleaners Society and Buckeye Auxiliary Police.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, William Sr., Napoleon; two stepsons, Robert Burns, Kendallville, Indiana, and Ronald Burns, South Bend, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Melvin (Annette) Strayer, Liberty Center; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Services will be conducted Saturday, 1:30 p.m., at Croll-Wnght Funeral Home, Liberty Center, by the Reverend Donald Rashley. Interment will follow in Youngs Cemeterv.
