Liberty center — Mrs. Stella Mae Burdue, 71, 719 Maryann St., died at 8:09 a.m. Sunday in the home of a daughter in Defiance, where she had been spending the weekend.
She was born May 24, 1904 in Holgate, a daughter of George and Myrtle (Greeno) Waxler, and married Clyde Burdue on May 5, 1921. He died Feb. 27, 1961, She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers and the Liberty Center Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are four sons, George, McClure; Gail, Bossier City, La.; Clyde Jr., Liberty Center, and Jerry, Napoleon; seven daughters, Mrs. Don (Donna) McEwen, Cygnet; Mrs. James (Betty) Good, Ridgeville Corners; Mrs. Charles (Judy) Stetter, Defiance; Mrs. Gene (Patsy) Stetter and Mrs. James (Mary) Stetter, Liberty Center; Mrs. Nick (Lois) Kozumplick, Ney, and Florence, in California; four brothers, Charles and Harry Waxler, Toledo; Alvin Waxler, Fort Wayne; 37 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, two sisters and four grandchildren are deceased.
Visitation begins at 7 p.m. today in the Croll-Wright Funeral Home. The body will lie in state in the Wesleyan Church after 11 a.m. Wednesday and funeral services will be held there at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. David L. Fruth and Rev. Wayne Goldsmith will officiate and burial will follow in Youngs Cemetery.
