Lulu Grace (Foncannon) Bowers was the daughter of Howard and Florence Foncannon, was born on June 22, 1877, in Liberty Center, O. She departed this life suddenly of a heart Attack on May 4, 1953, having attained the age of 75 years, 10 months and 12 days. Her father, mother, infant sister and a daughter preceded her in death.
She taught school several terms and then conducted a millinery store until she was married to D. D. Bowers on Jan. 16, 1908, to which union was born one daughter, Mrs. Florence Alleman, who died April 19, 1944.
She was a member of the Methodist church, Berean Bible class, and Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and would have been a 50-year member of that society next month.
She leaves to mourn her departure, the husband, D. D. Bowers; one granddaughter, Mrs. Howard Kinsel; three stepchildren, Mrs. Charles Hudson and L. R. Bowers of Napoleon, and Mrs. Cyril Ernst of Liberty Center. Four step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive, and other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Bowers had been afflicted for a considerable length of time with the heart ailment but always bore up under it remarkably well for a person of her years.
For many years she had been interested in the affairs of the local Methodist church and had at one time served the Sunday school for ten years as secretary.
She will be greatly missed by the companion and those who called her Mother, along with other relatives and her many friends.
Services were conducted from the Walter’s funeral home Wednesday afternoon, May 6, at 2:30, the Rev. David L. Eichar, pastor of the local church officiating. Burial was in Young’s cemetery.
The Order of Eastern Stars con-1 ducted services on the evening of May 5 for their departed member.

Mrs. Grace Bowers Dies of Heart Attack
Mrs. Grace Bowers, 76, former rural school teacher and milliner, died Sunday in her home here of a heart attack.
Mrs. Bowers attended services at the Methodist church Sunday and visited in Napoleon during the afternoon.
She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Past Matrons’ club and would have been a 60-year member of the lodge June 29.
Surviving are her husband, Dallas; stepson, L. R. Bowers, president of Community Bank, Napoleon; stepdaughters, Mrs.. Charles Hudson, Napoleon, and Mrs. Cyril Ernst, Liberty Center; one grandchild, four step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday 2:30 p. m. in the Walter’s funeral home, the Rev. David L. Eichar officiating.
