Uriah Bortel was born near McClure, Henry county, Ohio, Sept. 11, 1914, and died in Liberty Center, Ohio, April 14, 1914, aged 6 years, 7 months, and 3 days.
on October 10, 1874, he was united in marriage with Malissa Jennings and to them four children were born, two sons, Charles and Justin of Ludington, Michigan, and two daughters, Mrs. Herbert Sharen of Ludington, Michigan and Mrs. Fred Corwin of this place.
Mr. Bortle moved from Ohio to Michigan about 15 years ago and since then had resided at Ludington until last November when he returned to Liberty Center to make this his future winter home, hoping to return to Michigan for the summers.
The deceased was loved and respected by all who knew him, and he was known by many, having been born and raised in this locality. He leaves a beloved wife and four children, six grandchildren, two sisters, besides many other relatives and host of friends.
Mr. Bortle had ten brothers and sisters and out of this number but two sisters are living: Mrs. Catherine Gruver and Mrs. Margaret Harrison.
Mr. Bortle was ailing when he came to Liberty Center, and after being here for a short time began to fail rapidly and the end soon came.
