Mrs. Olive Bortel, daughter of Thornton D. and Margaret Ingle, was born in the city of Marion, O., November 9th, 1863, and departed this life at her home near Liberty Center, O., August 19th, 1918, aged 54 years, 9 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage with James Bortel December 7th, 1889 and to this union two children were born, Doris and Genevieve.
Mrs. Bortel’s life has been one of activity and responsibility. She was the oldest daughter in a family of six children. Two of her brothers, I. E. and Earnest Ingle were older than she. Her father was a pioneer minister in the U. B. church and upon Ollie as the oldest girl developed the care of the younger children and these loving ministrations were often spoken of by her mother.
Mrs. Bortel has been a very loving and devoted wife and mother. She has worked side by side with her husband in buying and building this home and farm. She was religiously inclined and very early in life made a Christian profession and united with the church. In late years while visiting her daughter in Detroit, she united with the Methodist church at St. Clair Heights and this relationship continued until her death.
She leaves to mourn her departure a loving husband, two daughters, one granddaughter, one sister, four brothers and a host of friends.
We bid her a loving goodbye, but it is only for a season. She has gone to meet her loved ones gone before and we shall meet her and them in the morning.
Funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday, Rev. J. W. Reynolds officiating. Interment in Young’s cemetery.
