Louis Henry Bergstedt, 79, Delta, died Oct. 17,2009, at the Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.
Louis was born March 23, 1930, in Henry County to the late Louis H.J. and Matilda (Gerken) Bergstedt. He married Rosella Marie Engler on Nov. 5, 1950, and she survives.
Also surviving are sons, Ken (Karen), Delta, Paul (Linda), Liberty Center, and Randy (ZoeAnn), Columbus, Ind.; daughter, Lois (Steven) Bell, Liberty Center; grandchildren, Kevin (Tabitha), Kurt (Marla), Kyle (Ashley) and Kimberly Bergstedt, Amber (Oliver) Phillips, Amanda, Tyler, Alyssa and Angela Bergstedt, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Joshua and Katherine Bell; great-grandchildren, Kaden Bergstedt, Klayton, Lauren and Eli Phillips; sister, Doris (Eldon) Zumfelde, Napoleon; and sister-in-law, Ruth Bergstedt, Napoleon.
Brother, Donald, preceded him in death.
Mr. Bergstedt retired in 1992 after 38 years with Clevite/Tenneco, Napoleon, and was a longtime Fulton County farmer. A veteran of the U.S. National Guard, he was a life member of the Napoleon American Legion and Liberty Center V.F.W. Louis was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, where he was past congregation chairman and Lutheran Layman’s League representative. He enjoyed playing dartball and traveling with, his wife, and will be remembered for his helpful nature and devotion to family.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Pastor Keith Witte presiding. Military rites and burial will follow at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation is Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home, Liberty Center.
