Dresden L. Beilharz, 86 years, of Plum Leaf Lane, Toledo, and a former 30 year resident of Woodside Terrace, Holland, died Monday, September 10, 2001, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee. Dresden was born July 9, 1915, in Liberty Center, OH, to Leroy "Roy" and Blanche (Bergstresser) Beilharz. He married Ellen Jean Fiser August 6, 1935, in Auburn, IN, and she preceded him in death September 1, 1984. A WWII U.S. Army Veteran, Dresden was employed by the former Champion Spark Plug as a detailer for 37 years, retiring in 1979. A member of Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dresden was confirmed August 1, 1996. Dresden was a proud member of the UAW. He enjoyed watching Detroit Tiger Baseball and Detroit Lions Football games and he also spent considerable time reading, especially westerns and detective stories.
Surviving are sons, Ralph D. of Oceanside, CA, and James D. Beilharz of Toledo; daughter, Penelope M. ‘Penny’ Beilharz of Toledo; grandchildren, Ralph D. Beilharz, Jr., Kathy Beilharz, Michael James Beilharz, Dr. Lauri Beth (Michael) Levison, MD, and Scott William (Sara) Beilharz; great-grandchildren, Eleyna, Avi, and Alexa Levison; sister, Delores Donahue and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Lowell Beilharz.
Friends will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, after 2 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2001, in Resurrection evangelical Lutheran Church, 2250 South Holland-Sylvania Road, Maumee, with Rev. Jeffery Mittelstadt, officiating. Interment Young Cemetery, Liberty Center, OH.
