Samuel Burdette Beavers
July 26, 1919 - Nov. 18,1999
Samuel Beavers, 80, of Liberty Center died Thursday morning at his residence.
Born July 26, 1919, in McClure, he was the son of Clyde and Golda (Dull) Beavers. On May 25, 1940, he married Thelma Young, who survives.
He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran. He was a carpenter, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #248 of Toledo and V.F.W. Post #6596 of Liberty Center. He was a 50-year member of the Liberty Center-Washington Township Fire Department and was the grand marshal in the 125th Northwestern Ohio Volunteer Fireman’s Association Convention held in Liberty Center this year.
He is also survived by four daughters, Kay Irving of Tiffin, Gloria Gilders of Delta, Sue Beman of Toledo and Gina O’Neill of Delta; a sister, Dorothy Young of Delta; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Burdette Jr.; two brothers, Burl and Ralph; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Wright Funeral Home of Liberty Center, Pastor Jerry Steen officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery of Liberty Center.
Visitation will be after 7 p.m. Saturday and after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There will be a fireman’s service at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Henry County or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
