Henry Baker, 75, of Liberty Center died Wednesday evening at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo.
Born May 24, 1920, in Liberty Center, he was the son of Henry and Luella (Johnson) Baker. On May 8, 1947, be married Elaine Harms, who survives.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran. He was a bookkeeper until he retired in 1984. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Liberty Center and a past church council president. He was also a member and past commander of the Gilbert Baughman Post of the American Legion, member of the Liberty Center Rotary Club, where he was a past president, past secretary and Paul Harris Fellow. He was president of the Henry County Board of Education, was on the executive committee of the Northwest Ohio Regional School Boards Association, was a former member of the Liberty Center Board of Education and was a former Liberty Center clerk and treasurer.
He is also survived by a daughter, Janet Zachrich of Napoleon; a son, Brian of Liberty Center; two sisters, Lucille Johnson of Bowling Green and Annabel Norman of Zanesville, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan; two sisters, Bessie Hoff and Grace Zenz; and three brothers, Granville, Kenneth Paul and Charles.
Services will be 11 a.m. at the church, Pastor William Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center, where military services will be conducted by the American Legion.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday at the Wright Funeral Home of Liberty Center.
