Hattie J. Allen was born January 6, 1846, and died at her home in Liberty Center, Ohio, February 15, 1914, aged 68 years and 9 days.
She was united in marriage with L. K. Allen August 14, 1878, and to this union were born two sons and one daughter, all of whom passed to the glory-world in infancy.
Mrs. Allen joined the St. John Reformed Church in Liberty Center in 1881. She lived a true Christian life and left an undeniable testimony that she was ready to triumph over death and of full assurance of an abundant entrance into the rest that remains for the people of God, where she would enjoy the presence of her Savior whom she so greatly loved and where she would meet her darling children that preceded her to the land of joy.
she was a truly devoted wife and mother and loved her home. Her house was kept scrupulously clean and in the best of order. She was kind, hospitable and very sympathetic.
She was always ready to help the sick and to make sacrifice for the comfort and good of others.
She leaves her husband, three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Anglemyer of Joplin, Missouri, Mrs. Margaret Hicks of McClure, Ohio, Mrs. Orpha Hudson of Liberty Center, Ohio, and two brothers, George Bowers, of Napoleon, O., and David Bowers of Edgerton, Ohio, and a host of friends to mourn her death.
Her last service was ministering to an afflicted sister where her strength gave way and she returned home to take her dying-bed where she languished six days, growing weaker in body but stronger in faith, confident that it was well with her soul, and before the Sabbath day break she entered the temple to join the great congregation in heavenly worship.
Mrs. Allen was held in high esteem and loved by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at the Reformed church in Liberty Center, Tuesday at 10 o’clock, Rev. J. G. Crider officiating. Interment was made in Young’s Cemetery.
