Henry Vajen Sr., was born August 6, 1840, in Hiddingen Vesselhovede, Rotenburg, Germany, and was baptized August 23, 1840, and confirmed in 1854.
Kathrine nee Schweibert born May 21, 1841, in Rotenburg, Germany was baptized June 21, 1841, and confirmed April 5, 1855.
They were married July 27, 1866, and came to the United States and lived on the farm north of Napoleon in Freedom Township and lived in a log house on Road 108 (now).
Their children were Mrs. Fred (Sophia) Genuit, John Vajen, Henry C. Vajen, Christ Vajen, Mrs. Eliza Canary Hillis, George Vajen. They are all deceased.
Grandmother Vajen died March 10, 1910. Grandpa died June 3, 1916.
They bought this farm of 100 acres in 1881 and moved here in the log cabin, which is now at the fair grounds.
They cleared the ground and I think built the log cabin in 1881.
They built the barn in 1892 and the brick house in 1909 that we now live in.
