Kenneth, son of Loren and Doris Upell, was born on February 5, 1928, at Fruit Ridge, Michigan, on one of the Horton Farms.
He and his parents moved to the Alfred Fuller Farm, north of Colton, Ohio, in February, 1941.
Kenneth graduated from Liberty Center School and is a grain and hog farmer. He married Beverly Andrews, of Wauseon, Ohio, on February 5, 1952. They have two sons and four daughters.
Kenneth and his father were partners in farming until 1966. Kenneth purchased the Cecil Strock farm in January, 1962. The farm had been purchased by Edward Struges from the State of Ohio in 1835 for $200.00. In April, 1964, Kenneth purchased sixty acres of the Ada Patrick Farm. The barn that had been built in 1903 was destroyed by fire on March 11, 1971. The barn has been replaced with three hundred feet of hog buildings and three harvestor silos. The farm home was remodeled in 1974.
Kenneth and Beverly Upell's children are as follows.
Dennis Upell was born on December 30, 1954, and graduated from Liberty Center High School. On September 19, 1975, he married Betty Repka, of Delta, Ohio, and lived on the farm until they purchased the Roger Sonnenberg home west of Liberty Center in 1977. Dennis is a physical therapist and Betty is a nurse for Dr. Murtiff, of Delta, Ohio.
Denise Upell was born on January 11, 1957, attended Liberty Center Schools and is employed by the Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon, Ohio.
Deann Upell was born on March 11, 1961, and is a student at Four County Vocational School.
Douglas Upell was born on May 17, 1967, and a fifth grader at Liberty Center Elementary School.
Danette was born on June 7, 1969, and is a fourth grader at Liberty Center Elementary School.
