A.H. Tyler came to Napoleon in the fall of 1846. He was the first county clerk elected in Henry County. Over the years he served as a justice of the peace, county examiner, a notary public, and was an attorney at law.
He was the son of Peter and Eunice Tyler, and was born at New Haven, New York in January 1819.
A.H. and Elizabeth B. Granniss were married in Huron, Erie County, Ohio, on October 29, 1846 and moved to Napoleon. Elizabeth was born in New York on March 31, 1823.
They had four children: Charles H., Rolla C., Frederick G., and Harry A.
Mr. Tyler served as an assistant surgeon during the Civil War with the 68th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
