Bokerman Family

Charles Frederick Bokerman was born on April 27, 1830 at Osterheide, Gerlinghausen, Germany. He married Phillippine (Philopena) Kemm on December 23, 1862 in Henry County, Ohio. Charles came to the United States in 1858. Philippine was born on November 26, 1843 at Grarve, Grose herxogthum, Baden, Germany. Charles died on March 6, 1916 and his wife died on May 28, 1919. They were the parents of seven children: Wilhelm Christoph, or William C., Daniel, Wilhelmina Elizabeth, Charles Frederick, Heinrich Joseph, George Albert and John Edward Bokerman.

William C. Bokerman was born on October 23, 1863 in Henry County, Ohio, and died on October 22, 1935. He married Jennie Hicks, daughter of Matthew Hicks, on November 27, 1902. They had two daughters, Marguerite and Lillian. William was a lay minister, a teacher, and started an insurance business in Napoleon in 1910. Marguerite Wening and Lillian Ogle are widows and live in Toledo, Ohio.

Daniel Bokerman was born on August 12, 1865, and died in September, 1935. He married Nellie Robinson on December 28, 1892. Their children were Clara F. and Lawrence. Daniel was a farmer and resided near Wauseon, Ohio.

Wilhelmina Elizabeth Bokerman was born on February 21, 1867, and died on August 28, 1941, and never married. She took care of her parents and lived on the farm with them.

Charles, or Charlie, Bokerman was born on October 20, 1869, and died on September 28, 1928. He married Lydia Elfers on June 27, 1896. Their children were Otis, Mildred Orr, Esther Montgomery, Arthur, Charles, Marshall, and Cleon Bloom. Otis lives in Indiana and is in the postal service. Mildred is a teacher. Arthur lives in Indianapolis and works for the county highway department. Charles is a salesman and lives in Indianapolis. Marshall lives on Kellys Island. Cleon lives at Marion, Indiana, and is a nurse and married to a doctor. Her children are John David Bloom and Carolyn Marie Bloom Masters. John has a child, Terri Bloom. The Montgomery children are Frank, Jr. who has a daughter, Helen Montgomery; Charlotte Ann Montgomery, married, has Steve and a daughter. Mildred Marie Montgomery Jarrett has Paul, Jr. and Gregg Jarrett, and Mark who died in 1975.

Henry Bokerman was born August 16, 1872 and died on March 3, 1939. He married Emma Tietje on January 23, 1895. Their son, Harold, lives at Wauseon, Ohio, and works for the Water Works Board. Henry was a farmer and lived on the Ridge Road.

George Albert Bokerman was born on April 30, 1878, and died on November 9, 1958. He married Anna Harmon on December 24, 1903. They had three daughters and one son. Lucille E. died in infancy. Pearl Dugan worked for the Bureau of Internal Revenue and lives in Toledo. Her daughter, Gloria Dugan Cook has children, Teresa, James and Mary Beth Cook. Her son, James Dugan is a dentist in Toledo and has children, Jane, Judy, Joseph, John, Julie, and Jennifer Dugan. Gloria lives in California. Doras married Lawrence Kurtz and had no issue. Lester married Arlie Patterson and had a daughter, Beverly Bokerman Puris. Beverly has two children, Kimberly Mae and Jason Patterson Puris. Doras was a secretary and bookkeeper; Lester, Pearl, and Doras owned the Implement business in Napoleon until 1976. George Bokerman was a farmer, had a milk route and an implement business later owned by his children.

John Edward Bokerman was born on February 18, 1883 and died on March 26, 1967. He married Grace Gottschalk on June 23, 1918. They had one son, William, named for John's brother, William. Edward worked for the Fisk Grocery, has a shoe business, and in 1932 bought out his brother's insurance business. It was operated under the name of Ed. J. Bokerman and Son for many years. William, son of John Edward Bokerman, is now a partner in the firm of AIA insurance company in Napoleon. William married Jeanne Adsmon and they have three children. BeAndrea Bokerman Bracht is a teacher, lives in Canton, Michigan, and has a son David Andrew Bracht. William Bokerman, Jr. lives in Naples, Florida and is a teacher. Joel Bokerman lives at Wapokoneta, Ohio, and is in insurance and music.

Other descendants of Charles and Philopena Kemm Bokerman are Jan Dormeus and his children, Eric, Paula, Karla Dormeus; Gary Bokerman who lives in Michigan; and Donald Bokerman, who lives in Miami, Florida, and is a photographer.
