Robert Eugene Travis

Robert Eugene Travis, son of Zebulon and Jayne Suydam Travis, was born on September 17, 1915. He married Nina Mae Gramling on November 23, 1939. They live in the Travis home which they purchsed in 1949. They have seven children. Charlotte Ann, born August 15, 1940, married James Elwood Jones, son of Orlo and Leanna Jones, Grelton, Ohio, on April 25, 1959. Their sons are Steve Brian Jones, born May 28, 1960; Mark James Jones, born January 18, 1962; and Craig Allen Jones, born May 29, 1963. The family live in Monroe Township and are members of the Grelton United Methodist Church. Kenton Eugene Travis, born June 28, 1942, married Choung Sun Lee, a student from Seoul, Korea, while they were attending Bowling Green State University, on September 11, 1965. After their marriage, they moved to Columbus, Ohio. Sue taught a course in Chemistry at Ohio State University and Kenton earned his master's and doctorate degrees. He moved to Aberdeen, Maryland, served in the U.S. Army for five years, spending one year in Korea as a military escort, the remaining time doing research at the military proving grounds in Maryland. He is retired from the army but working as a civilian in the same place. Their children are Jennifer Lee, born in Columbus, Ohio on July 22, 1966 and Michael Lee, born April 16, 1969 in Columbus.

Betty Kaye Travis, born June 12, 1944, married Gary Fether of Fulton County, on October 25, 1969. Their sons are Jonathan Noel, born September 21, 1972 and Terrell Kent Fether, born July 17, 1976. Gary is a son of Bernard and Virgie Fether. He is a farmer and the family belong to the Fayette Nazarene Church.

Joan Sue Travis, born May 28, 1947, married Paul Dean Chamberlin, son of Leo and Phyllis Chamberlin, Fulton County, on April 10, 1965. Paul is a physicist at I.B.M. in Burlington, Vermont. Their children are Terrence Lynn, born September 16, 1965; Timothy Scott, born July 3, 1968; and Wendy Mae, born March 20, 1975.

Mary Beth Travis, born April 19, 1949, married Stephen Douglas Seagrave, son of Alan, Sr. and Kathryn Seagrave, of Toledo, Ohio. They were married on February 8, 1969. They reside in Hardin County, Ada, Ohio. They have an adopted son, Joshua Daniel, born February 6, 1976. Stephen is an elementary guidance counselor in the Upper Sciota Valley Schools in Hardin County.

Robin Jill Travis, born June 22, 1954, married Ramiro Gomez, son of Guadalupe and Eva Gomez of Stryker, Ohio. Ramiro works at LaChoy's in Archbold, Ohio, and Robin also works there. They were married on August 15, 1975. They reside in Gorham Township, Fulton County.

Rebecca Jean Travis, born May 28, 1955. On June 25, 1977, she married Leslie Eugene Steingass, son of Kenneth and Helen Steingass -of Ayersville, Ohio. Leslie is studying art education at Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio, and Rebecca is employed as a kindergarten teacher in the Upper Sciota Valley Schools.

Harrison Guinther Travis was born in Henry County on November 25, 1897. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He married Madeline Robinson, daughter of William Robinson. They now live in North Redington Beach, Florida. They had four sons.

William Harrison Travis was born in Brooklin in 1926. He married Nancy Jarrett and they have Michael, Richard and William Harrison, Jr. William, Sr. is a retired Regular Army Colonel.

Harrison Gerard Travis was born in New Jersey in 1930. He is an executive with Du Pont Corporation and a Lt. Col. in the Air Force Reserve. He married Barbara Lynch and they have Susan, Kimberly and Harrison Gerard, Jr.

Richard Thomas Travis and David Timothy Travis are twins. They were born in New Jersey in 1938. Richard is a Major, Medic, in the U.S. Army. He married Julie Moran and has a daughter, Patricia. David is a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy and married Jinx Jacunski. Their children are Teri, Lea and David, Jr.

Rowena Travis, fourth child of Franklin Slater Travis, was born in Henry County on November 28, 1899 and married Robert Lynn McCabe on June 15, 1918. Robert was a son of Charles and Sylvia McCabe of Henry County. They had twin sons and one daughter.

Robert Keith McCabe was born on November 3, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio. He married Lois Mae Brink, in Napoleon, Ohio, on January 14, 1946. They have three children. Keith McCabe was born in Napoleon on March 17, 1948. He married Jane Raker, of Delta, Ohio, in 1967 and have Dawn Renee, born November 26, 1967 and Robert Keith born November 30, 1969. Jan and Jane were divorced in 1971. Jan married, second, in 1972, Linda Kigar of Delta, Ohio, and has Tami Lynn, born September 12, 1972 and Ryan Patrick, born January 17, 1975. Timothy Jay McCabe, born May 18, 1952, in Napoleon, married Annette Giguere, of Delta, in 1968, and had Sean Michael, born June 20, 1969. This marriage ended in divorce in 1977. Barry Dean McCabe, born March 18, 1958, in Napoleon, lives at home. Barry Keith and Lois McCabe are farmers and live in York Township, Fulton County.

Harrison Kenneth McCabe, twin to Robert Keith, was born November 3, 1920 and married Lulu Badenhop, daughter of George Badenhop of Napoleon, Ohio, on July 12, 1941. Their children are Harrison Kenneth, Butch, McCabe, Jr., born April 23, 1943, married Carolyn Motter, of Napoleon, Ohio, on November 23, 1967 and have Kelly born March 19, 1968 and Jason born on September 15, 1972. Cathie Lynn McCabe married Jack Yeager on January 19, 1964 and has Todd Allen, born on February 27, 1966 and Tonja Lynn, born on October 31, 1968.

Bernadine Joan McCabe, born on April 24, 1927, married Dale Kern, born July 3, 1927, and has three children. Cheryl Ann Kern, married Lawrence Levy on August 24, 1969 and has one child, Matthew Dale Levy. Lynette Susan Kern, and Kevin Dale Kern, born May 30, 1955 are the other two children of Bernadine's.

Robert and Rowena McCabe were farmers and lived in Liberty Township. After Robert's death, Rowena married Harry Vogel on January 23, 1955. They live on the farm.

Audrey Elizabeth Travis was born on May 11, 1902 in Henry County, Ohio. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1918. She taught school in Henry County after graduation from Bowling Green Normal College. On Decmeber 5, 1920 she married Walter Dietrich, born November 17, 1901, in Henry County, Ohio. They had seven children. Madeline Janette was born January 12, 1922. She married Raymond Dale Gilleland, born August 24, 1921, in Darlow, Kansas. He was a member of the Second Cavalry, U.S. Army, the unit that became the Second Armored Division. They were married in Camp Funston, Fort Riley, Kansas. Raymond is a carpenter and Madeline is a rural mail carrier. They live near Wauseon, Ohio, and had four children. Carol Sue was born June 22, 1943, Ft. Riley, Kansas, and died the same day and is buried in the military cemetery there. Michael Ross was born on November 19, 1944 at Camp Polk, Louisiana, military base. He enlisted in October, 1962 in the U.S. Air Force and was discharged in April, 1966. He spent two years at Elmendorf A.F. base in Anchorage, Alaska. He married Mary Jane Shaffer, born October 15, 1947, in Indiana, on July 10, 1967. Their daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth, was born on February 4, 1968. The family lived in Fulton Lounty, where Michael was a farmer and Mary Jane had her own beauty shop, until early 1977 when they moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Susan Jean was born on January 10, 1947 in Fulton County. She married Merlyn Faber on November 28, 1964. He was born on May 18, 1942, and is employed at. Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois. and the family lives in Dyer, Indiana. Their children are Con nie Lynn, born September 23, 1965; Timothy John, born September 12, 1967; and Rebecca Susan, born August 14, 1969. Janette Kay was born on November 18, 1949 and married David Gordon Martin, born January 1, 1947, Ashland, Missouri, on May 10, 1969. They have James William, born January 28, 1970; and Arynn Michelle, born December 27, 1971. The family lives in Columbia, Missouri.

Jeane Anne married Kenneth Kurtz on June 22, 1946. He was born on May 5, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio. They have Joyce Anne, born September 11, 1947, a teacher in Toledo, Ohio; and Brenda Jean, born February 8, 1951 who is preparing for the mission field.

Gwendolyn Irene graduated in 1947 from Chesterfield High School and married Norman Schoonover, rural Morenci, Michigan, and had three sons. Alan Ray, born October 30, 1949, died December 7, 1968, buried in Lenawee Hills Cemetery, Adrian, Michigan. Dennis Lynn, born August 7, 1953, died September 13, 1972, buried same cemetery. Douglas Lee was born April 27, 1951, died October 13, 1970 and is buried in the same cemetery. The boys all had muscular dystrophy. In 1960, Norman left his family and moved to California. Several years later he and Gwen were divorced. On July 10, 1964, Gwen married W.D. Raper, born March 11, 1920 in Alabama. He is employed at Oliver Instrument and Gwen is employed by Consumers Power in Adrian, and they live in Adrian, Michigan.

Connie Elaine graduated from Defiance College in 1958, and taught elementary school. On July 10, 1965, she married Douglas Lee Taylor, born December 19, 1940, in Colorado. Their son, Jeffry Scott, was born on August 12, 1969. Their adopted daughter, Kristen, was born on February 15, 1973, and was five weeks old when she became part of the family. They live in Englewood, Colorado.

Mary Helen Travis, sixth child of Franklin Slater Travis, was born on March 20, 1904. She married Gale Heist in 1922. Their children are James Richard Heist (Osborn), born February 1, 1923. He served in the U.S. Navy, and married Vivian Ives on August 1, 1943. They have one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Osborn, born January 11, 1945, lives in Los Angeles, California. James Osborn and Vivian were di vorced and James married Eileen Stevens in November, 1956, and they live in California.

Evelyn Rowena Heist (Osborn) was born July 18, 1925 and married on February 7, 1944 to Melvin Ervin Wolf, of Napoleon, who was born on October 12, 1918. Their son, Terry Lee Wolf, was born on December 12, 1944. He married Constance Lynn HOgrefe, of Napoleon, on February 12, 1966. Constance was born on August 8, 1945. Their sons are Eric Scott, born April 4, 1970, and Christopher Melvin, born June 15, 1973.

Evelyn's first marriage ended in divorce and she married, second, Robert Luther Demaline on March 2, 1956. This marriage also ended in divorce in 1961.

Mary Helen Travis Heist died in March, 1926, of blood poisoning following an attack of quinsey and is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon. Her children were adopted by Mary's Aunt Elizabeth Rausch and her husband, Emanuel Osborn, who had no children of their own. Mrs. Osborn was a sister to Susan Rausch Travis.

Julian Slater Travis, seventh child of Franklin Slater Travis, was born on July 14, 1906, and married on March 19, 1927 to Lura Helen Johnston of Liberty Center, Ohio. They had Judith Eileen Travis born on November 18, 1938, and Bryce Slater Travis, born on July 12, 1941.

Judith Eileen Travis married Dale Earl Leininger on March 29, 1958. They have Debra Lynn, born April 15, 1959, died August 8, 1973, in a swimming accident; Daniel Dale, born May 5, 1960; Diane Kay, born April 20, 1961; Douglas Lee, born March 16, 1963; Dawn Michelle, born April 29, 1964; and D'Anna Kim, born June 7, 1966. The Leiningers live in Liberty Center where Dale is a carpenter.

Bryce Slater Travis married Judy Showman, daughter of Marvin Showman, Liberty Center, Ohio, on January 27, 1962. Their children are Shelly Kay, born January 3, 1963, and Michael James, born April 17, 1966. They live in Bryan, Ohio.

Julian Travis, former owner and operator of the Liberty Lumber and .Supply Company, and his wife are retired and live in Liberty Center, Ohio. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 20, 1977.
