William M. Thrasher was born on January 12, 1857 to Timothy and Cynthia Porter Thrasher who were natives of Massachusetts.
Timothy Thrasher was born about 1819/20 and died in March, 1881. His wife, Cynthia Porter was born in 1825 and died May 29, 1891. Cynthia was a twin to Eunice Porter. Mrs. Porter died soon after the birth of the twins and their grandmother raised them.
While Timothy Thrasher lived in Massachusetts, he was a mackeral fisherman and a carpenter. He and Cynthia married about 1843 in Massachusetts and in 1847 the family came to Lorain County, Ohio.
The family traveled to Henry County, to Napoleon, in 1853 by way of the lake to Toledo, then on a canal boat up the canal to Napoleon, and then overland to Section 13, Ridgeville Township.
The only son of Timothy and Cynthia Thrasher was William M. They had five daughters. Mary married John Bailey.
