Lloyd Steingass was born in Pleasant Township, Henry County, Ohio, on October 2, 1926. He married Geraldine Gilgenbach on July 26, 1947. They were married by the Reverend P. A. Pieffer in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, Ohio.

Geraldine was born on January 27, 1926, in Putnam County, Ohio.

They had three children: one son, David; and two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Carol) Chatham, and Mrs. Thomas (Beverly) Hancock.

Lloyd and Geraldine lived in Pleasant Township, Henry County, until 1973 when they moved to Defiance, Ohio.
