Clyde Shawber was born August 10, 1892 in Crawford County, Ohio. He died on January 10, 1944 in Henry County, Ohio. He married Carrie Christman in 1913. Carrie was born on February 17, 1892 at Hamler, Ohio. Clyde and Carrie had one son, Lowell J. Shawber, who was born on December 28, 1915 and lived at Malinta, Ohio. Lowell died on May 3, 1974.
Lowell Shawber married Kathleen Howell of Napoleon, Ohio. They had one daughter, Nan Shawber. Nan married Harold Baer and has one daughter, April. Nan and Harold live in Worthington, Ohio.
Clyde Shawber owned and operated the elevator at Malinta for a number of years. After his death, Lowell Shawber operated it for a few years.
Mrs. Shawber was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution of the Fort Defiance Chapter, Defiance, Ohio.
Lowell Shawber was a 32nd degree mason and was very active in the work of his lodge. He had been a member for thirty-seven years. He applied for membership on October 19, 1937, passed on November 2, 1937, and was raised on December 7, 1937. He served in various offices including Worshipful Master of his lodge. He belonged to Oc-Co-Noc-Ee Council No. 55, Royal and Select Masters and was Illustrious Master in 1966. He was a member of the Defiance Commandery No. 30 at Defiance, Ohio. He was Commander in 1964. Lowell was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, Ohio. He belonged to the Zenobia Shrine Temple of Toledo, Ohio and was a member of the Shrine Crusaders. He was District Deputy and Grand High Priest, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio District No. 1 of Napoleon, Ohio. His father, Clyde Shawber, was also a 32nd degree Mason.
