Rev. Jacob Shaffer

Jacob Shaffer was born in Wurtemburg, Germany to George and Barbara Shaffer who were born in Wurtemburg and died in Trumbull County, Ohio. Jacob was born on November 7, 1820.

Jacob and Caroline Klinight, born Germany on May 8, 1824, were married in 1845 in Trumbull County, Ohio. Their children were: Elias, 1846; Moses, 1847-1874; Aaron, 1851; Mary, 1849-1875 married Solomon Daly; Reuben, 1853-1874; Samuel, 1856; Caroline, 1858-1872; John, 1860; and Susannah, 1865.

Rev. Jacob Shaffer was a minister serving the Maumee Circuit which was one hundred miles distance and had seventeen appointments to be kept each week. He first walked the circuit, then bought a horse and became a circuit rider. The family lived in Monroe Township.
