The Cathie Shaffer Family

Cathie Eicher, born February 28, 1949, of Ridgeville Township, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Eicher of Napoleon, Ohio. She was married to Paul L. Shaffer on August 19, 1967, in the First Congregational Church of Ridgeville.

Cathie was reared on the home farm east of Ridgeville Corners, graduated from Ridgeville Local School in 1966 and attended Michigan State University and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1972 with a degree in journalism.

The Shaffer children are Mark born April 15, 1968 and Sara Lynn born November 29, 1973. Cathie lives on the home farm in Ridgeville Township that belonged to her grandparents, Augustus and Alice Motter and now is her parents' farm. She is employed by the Farmland News in Archbold as a reporter-photographer.

Cathie is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the St. Paul Methodist Church in Napoleon.

Mrs. Shaffer and her mother, Genevieve Eicher, are professional clowns. She is a member of Clowns of America and Clowns of Ohio. Her clown name is 'Bubbles' and she works in the traditional white face that is seen in circus work.
