William Major and John Shadford, brothers and sons of John Shadford of Yorkshire, England, left Yorkshire and emigrated to LaPorte, Lorain County,
Ohio where their uncle, Robert Wilson Shad ford, lived.
William Major married Elizabeth Tong Longbone, a widow. She had three sons, including James Longbone, from her first marriage. Elizabeth was born on February 1, 1797 and died on June 4, 1879. William Shadford died in January, 1869.
William and Elizabeth Shadford had two sons, George and Jabez Bunting.
George Shadford was born in 1838 and died in 1914. He married Permelia Struble on April 10, 1863. Permelia, daughter of Reverend George and Lucinda Lindley Struble, was born in 1841 and died in 1922. They had no issue. The Struble family history is in this book.
Jabez Bunting Shadford was born on December 30, 1841 and died on February 4, 1908. He married Sarah Fauver, daughter of George and Patience Shepherd Fauver. Sarah was born on May 18, 1844 and died on December 28, 1867.
On March 13, 1869, Jabez married Sarah's sister, Roxa Fauver. Called Roxie, she was born on August 26, 1849 and died on June 6, 1910. The Shadfords were residents of Ridgeville Township. Jabez and Roxie had two children. One son died on December 24, 1882, as an infant.
William Major Shadford, the other son, was born on September 18, 1870 and died on January 12, 1937. He married Bertha Gillespie on September 26, 1896 at Monroe, Michigan. William and Bertha Shadford had four children: Ralph, Dora Mae, Arlene and Mary.
Ralph served in the Aviation section of the Signal Corp during World War I. He married Emma Wendt who was born in 1897 and died in 1944. Their children were Betty Opal, 1923-1934, and Hylen DeAlton, 1920-1924.
Dora Mae Shadford married C. W. Toberson. Arlene Shadford married Dlyde Boso.
Mary Shadford married Theodore McQuistion and lives in Bryan, Ohio. Ted is deceased.
