Elisha Scribner was one of the first settlers in the Maumee Valley. He invested in land and was a leading man in the Northwest Territory. He was considered one of the few men able to deal with the Indians that located in Henry County. He came in about 1818. He brought his family and settled at what was known then as Prairie Du Masque, or Damascus.
His son was Edwin Scribner who was born about 1806. Elisha died in 1825.
