Caspar Schnitkey was born on January 14, 1828 and died on August 14, 1903. He married Anna Maria Bramer who was born on October 5, 1832 and died on December 28, 1905. Caspar and Anna immigrated to the United States in 1859 from Hanover, Germany.
The Schnitkey family settled on a farm three miles west of Ridgeville Corners and had five children.
William was born in 1862 and died in 1930. Henry was born in 1860 and died in 1941. J. August was born in 1868 and died in 1940. Minnie Schnitkey Nagel was born in 1869 and died in 1926. Louise- Schnitkey Gericke was born in 1859 and died in 1946. All are buried in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery located west of Ridgeville Corners on U.S. 46.
J. August Schnitkey and his wife, Mary Lena Schumaker Schnitkey lived on the farm. Mary was born in 1879 and died in 1961. After her death, the farm was sold to Charles Engler. The family homestead is now the site of the Four County Vocational School.
J. August and Lena had ten children: Walter, Lydia, Nettie, Edward, Irene, Herman, Helen, Orville, Melvin and Ruth.
Walter Schnitkey was born in 1896 and is living in 1978. His wife, Helen Meyers Schnitkey was born in 1898 and died in 1967. They lived most of their lives in the Ridgeville Corners area.
Walter and Helen had eleven children: Delbert, Lucille, Delores, Charles, Beatrice, Junior, Eugene, Lois, Shirley, David and Donna. Most of these children live in the Ridgeville area.
