Ferdinand Royal, born in Germany, in 1802 and his wife, Catharine Battich, born 1802, Germany, settled in Henry County, Pleasant Township in 1837.
He purchased one hundred and sixty acres from the government for two hundred dollars. At that time the area was a wilderness; with no roads, and wild animals infested the woods, and the nearest flour mill was twelve miles away.
Submitted by the Henry County Historical Society, and not by the family.
