Although the Philip Rowe Family lived on the wrong side of the road, they lived all their married life on a farm one mile south of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. Since they lived on the south side of the road, they were in Defiance County.
Philip's parents lived a half mile east of this farm; his parents were John Adam Rowe, born April 27, 1814, and Mary Catherine Rowe, born October 4, 1816. There were thirteen children born to this family, and Philip was the sixth one born on March 24, 1848.
That whole family except two were Roman Catholics and attended St. Michael's Church on the Ridge Road near Defiance. The two were Frank Rowe who had a furniture arid undertaking store in Ridgeville Corners and Philip Rowe and they were ex-communicated because they married out of the church.
Michael and Adam Rowe were unmarried and they lived at the family farm during their entire lives. During later life, they walked to Ridgeville and back every day.
Philip Rowe married Flora Kigar, June 1, 1875. They had a family of eight children.
The eldest, Charles, was born August 7, 1876. He married Grace Lindley. They had four children: Ethel Baker, Iola Lindau, Lindley who died at age two years and the youngest, Webster Rowe.

1902.

The youngest child was Mae Rowe, born February 16, 1898. She married Edward A. Nagel and five children were born to this family. They are Raymond, Robert, Paul, Jean who married Edward Zimmerman, and Janice who married Theodore Brown. Paul was unmarried and he died as the result of an automobile accident in
1974.
Philip Rowe farmed and did carpentry work and he and his family lived on the same farm south of Ridgeville Corners all their lives.
