William Rosebrook was born on October 19, 1852 at Bommelsen Provence, Hannover, Germany and was the second oldest child of Peter and Angel Imbrock Rosebrook. At the age of fifteen years, he came to America with his parents and his brother Fred, sisters, Mary Dehnke and Dora Wachman. They settled in Freedom Township, Henry County, Ohio. William married Dorothea Glanz Lulls, daughter of Henry and Maria Glantz Lulls, on April 9, 1891. Dorothea was one of ten children and was born on October 19, 1872 in Germany, and died on March 5, 1956.
William bought a farm in 1895 that was located in Bartlow Township, and lived there until his death on July 3, 1921. His grandson, Edward Rose- brook, owns and lives on the farm now.
William was a delegate for Luther League the year it was organized and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
The Rosebrook family were a musical family. William and Dorothea had six children: Sophie, William, Ernest, Emil, Dorothy and Altha, still living.
Sophie was born on December 9, 1891 and married Henry C. Meyer. From 1905 to 1911, she was organist at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, Ohio. For special times, she and her sisters, Dorothy and Altha, would sing in church as at that time there was no church choir. After marriage, Sophie and Henry moved to a farm in Richfield Township where sons, Alvin and Edwin, were born. Later the Meyer family left the farm and moved to Deshler where Henry was a self- employed carpenter. After the death of Henry, Sophie returned to her mother's home and cared for her until her death. Sophie died in Deshler on June 19, 1959.
Alvin Meyer, their oldest son, married Emma Rabe. He was a carpenter and built Immanuel Lutheran Church in Deshler. Their one daughter, Geraldine, married Jack Morse. The second son of Henry and Sophie Meyer was Edwin Meyer who married Margaret Rohrs. He worked forty years for Koppenhofer Brothers and Imco Egg Processing plant in Deshler. Their children are Carol Ann who married Joe White and had Lisa Coleen; Betty Lou who married James Kerr and had Gregory James and Marc Kenneth; and Robert Eugene Meyer who married Julie Smith.
William Rosebrook, second child of William and Dorothea Rosebrook, was born December 28, 1893 and married Anna Marie Caroline Hoops on November 14, 1915. This was a musical family. William H. was part of Glanz and Lulls' Band. In early 1930, Bill formed his Rosebrook band which included five of his six children. Bill played cornet, Eugene the accordina, Harold on second cornet, Doris played clarinet, Edward the trombone, and William on the bass or baritone.
Eugene Ernest Rosebrook, the oldest child, married Wilhelmina Konenke. They have James; Marlene who married Wayne Mohring and has David, Christine, Jonathon, and Michael; Donald who married Bonnie Bennett and has Michael; and Stephen who married Sue Guthrie.
Harold Henry Rosebrook married Valieta Panning and they had Harvey E. who married Arlene Behrman and had Alan, Pamela and Brent; Vernon; Harold William who married Cynthia Robinson and had Michelle M.; Loren who married Frances Desgrange and had Randall, Cheryl 'and Sheila; Barbara A. who married Mike Leininger and had Rachel and Christopher; Kenneth A. who married Brenda S. Cooper and had Shanon, Lance and Wade; Terry L.; Brenda K.; Annette; and David.
Doris Louise Rosebrock married Arnold E. Schwiebert. Their children also are musical. Roger plays with the "Village Dutchmen" and married Margaret Ann Bichan and had Matthew K. and Bruce R.; Dennis Paul plays with "Hank Haller and His Orchestra" and married Juleen M. Tietje and has Kirk A. and Erik L.; Diana Lynn married Jeffrey L. Salisbury; and Mark Edward plays with "Maumee Valley".
Edward H. Rosebrook married Delaura Tietje. Their children are Carolyn who married Wayne Moore and has Susan, Billy and Carleen; Howard E. who married Judy Mohn and has Kevin and JoLyn; Charlene Sue who married Roy Halter; and Eddie.
Ann LaVerne married Arnold Badenhop and has Clifford; Burdette; and Darwin who married Kathy; and Christopher. The youngest child of William and Caroline Rosebrook is William Carl who married Bette Maier. Their children are Charles who married Jackie; Connie Sue who married William Rode and has Cammie and John; Patricia; Jennifer; Willie; and Bobby.
William and Dorothea Lulfs Rose- brook son, Ernest Rosebrook, was born on January 27, 1895 and died in 1942. He married Ida Grunhagen and had children: Eldor married Pauline Seedorf and had Raymond who was killed in an auto accident; Karen who married Lee Kahrs and has Krestie, Teresa, Steven and Scott; Delbert who married Sandy and has Barry, Amy and Jenese; and Larry who died in infancy. Eldor married Jane Young Thompson as his second wife and they had David. The second child of Ernest and Ida was Arnold M. who married Alice Collier and had Ronnie Lee. The third child is Melvin who married Norma Petersen and has Nancy who married Richard Percy and has Richie; Jerry who married Brenda Seedorf and has Bradley, Gregory, and Lana; Shirley who married Wayne Shepard and has April and Jamie; Lynette and Cheryl. The two youngest are Selma, and Janis who married Ronald Dachenhaus and has Lisa; Ann, Rodney and Ryan. Emil Rosebrook, the fourth child of William and Dorothea, is at the end of this history.
Dorothy Rosebrook, the fifth child of William was born on May 25, 1906 and is living in Palm Beach Garden, Florida. She married Otto F. Meyer and they had Ruth who married Loren Willis and has Loren III; Frederick; Matthew; and Mary; Winafried is not married; Regina married Leslie Fogle and has Bradley, Randall and Shelly; and Marcus who married Cynthia Hansing.
Altha, the youngest child of the William Rosebrook family, was born on May 24, 1910, and lives in Deshler, Ohio. She married Alfred Yungmann. Their children are Alene who married Raymond Land and had Andria who married Bruce Badenhop; Evelyn who married Howard Ward and has Bill who married Lucretia Lloyd; and Steven; Marion who married Kenneth Hoops and has Anthony who married Kathy Plotts and Vinton; Verlinda who married Neil Flick and has Keith; Rick and Craig; Jerald who married Linda Price and has Mark; Dean and Cathy; and Euguene who married Beverly VanZand has Tammy and Jill.
The four Yungmann girls tried to make the task of doing dishes a little more enjoyable by singing. They formed a quartet and later were asked to sing at church, school and community functions.
William and Dorothea had one hundred and seventy six direct descendants with one hundred and sixty- seven living, and the majority live in Bartlow Township and surrounding area.
