Carl H. Rohrs was born April 9, 1890, in Freedom Twp., Henry Co., Ohio, the son of John C. and Mary (Hahn) Rohrs. He was educated in the local schools. He worked with his father, breeding and selling Percheron horses and Spotted Poland China hogs.
On Feb. 24, 1916, he married Ernestine Drewes, daughter of Henry and Sophie (Imbrock) Drewes. Erna was born Aug. 3, 1892. They lived in Napoleon Twp., near Okolona for several years, then moved to Liberty Twp. He continued farming and raising Percheron horses until they were outdated. He also had dairy cows and Spotted Poland China hogs. He held auctions at his farm, the Walnut Valley Stock Farm, at regular intervals, selling bred gilts and breeding stock, also dairy cattle. The last such sale was held on March 11, 1949. In 1948 they built a new house on their farm. This house is now occupied by his grandson, Ronnie, mentioned later in this book.
Carl Rohrs was a director of the Federal Land Bank Assn. of Bowling Green for more than 25 years. He also held many offices in his church - St. Paul Lutheran of Napoleon Twp., and later at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
Carl and Erna Rohrs had four children: Rozella, Arthur, Vernon, and Norbert. They resided on their farm in Liberty Twp. until their deaths. She died at the age of 70 on July 10, 1963. He died of a heart attack on January 2, i974, at the age of 83. They were both buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Napoleon, Ohio.
Rozella was born April 4, 1917. She attended beauty school in Toledo, Ohio, later starting her own business in Napoleon. On Sept. 2, 1939, she married K. Paul Slee, son of Curt and Blanche (Overmyer) Slee of Liberty Center, Ohio. They owned and operated Paul's Bowl-A-Way on N. Scott St., Napoleon. In 1967 they moved from Henry County and made their home in Tampa, Florida. Paul and Rozella had two children, Linda Rose, born Nov. 10, 1941, and Michael Paul, born April 16, 1944. Paul died on Dec. 20, 1972. Rozella continues to make her home in Tampa. She is a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Tampa, Florida.
Linda Rose Slee graduated from Napoleon High School in 1959. On June 17, 1961, she married John Howe of Napoleon, son of James and Mary (Spengler) Howe. Linda was a secretary at Campbell Soup Co. for a number of years and John is an employee of the U.S. Postal Service. They have three children: Gwendolyn Kay, born May 21, 1963; Jacquelyn Sue, born July 9, 1964; and Joseph John, born October 27, 1970. They are members of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
Michael Paul Slee graduated from Napoleon High School in 1962. He married Marilyn Wernert, daughter of Lawrence and Mary Wernert of Temperance, Michigan, on May 22, 1965. They are both beauticians, operating their own beauty shop in Napoleon. Mike and Marilyn are the parents of three children: Christopher Paul, born Jan. 20, 1968; Angela Marie, born Feb. 2, 1970; and Brian Michael, born April 11, 1974. They are members of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
Arthur Carl Rohrs was born July 10, 1920, in Liberty Twp. and attended Bell School and Liberty Center High School. He was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Twp., and is currently a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where he has held various offices. On Jan. 4, 1942, he married Regina Bindeman, daughter of Ferdinand and Emilie (Meyer) Bindeman of Gerald, Ohio. Arthur served in the Army from Sept., 1942, until Oct., 1945, two years in the States and one year in Europe, serving with the 9th Armored Division. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, and was one of the first to cross the Rhine River at Remagen. A son, Ronnie Arthur, was born on Jan. 1, 1944. A few hours after his birth, his mother Regina died, at the age of 22.
After Arthur returned from the Army, he farmed with his father, raising hogs and milking cows. On Jan. 13, 1946, he married Denelda Meyer (Born Jan. 25, 1923) daughter of Fred E. and Emilie (Bischoff) Meyer of Freedom Twp. After their marriage they moved to a farm in Liberty Twp. then owned by Carl H. Rohrs. Arthur and Denelda are the parents of four children, Jeremy James, Mara Jean, Nanette Jane, and Gayla Sue.

The oldest son, Ronnie Arthur, graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1961. He served in the Army from May 6, 1965, to May, 1967, stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, Camp Gordon, Georgia, and then in Germany for 14 months. On Feb. 8, 1969, he married Kathleen Ann Kahrs, daughter of Julius and Emma (Gathman) Kahrs of Wauseon, Ohio. Kathy owned and operated a beauty shop in Wauseon. They reside in Liberty Twp. on the farm formerly occupied by his grandfather, Carl H. Rohrs, where he farms with his father, Arthur Rohrs. They also raise hogs. Ron and Kathy have two children - Heather Ann, born Jan. 21, 1970, and Robin Sue, born May 6, 1972. They are members of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wauseon, Ohio.
Jeremy James Rohrs was born March 6, 1947. He graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1965 and from Ohio State University in 1969, with a degree in agricultural economics and agricultural journalism. He was a member of R.O.T.C. and received his commission as a 2nd lieutenant at the time of his graduation from college. He was stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, Ft. Bliss, Texas, and Ft. Holabird, Baltimore, Maryland, and then served for one year in Vietnam, receiving his commission as a 1st lieutenant. On Aug. 16, 1969, he married Cecily Gail Strock, daughter of Cecil and Louisa (Mires) Strock of Liberty Center, Ohio. They reside in Archbold, Ohio, where Jerry is now managing editor of the Farmland News, (the "Good-news" paper) published weekly. Cecily received her degree from Bowling Green State University and teaches in the English department in the Archbold High School. They are members of St. Martin Lutheran Church of Archbold, Ohio.
Mara Jean Rohrs was born April 24, 1949. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1967. She received the State Homemakers Degree. For a number of years she was receptionist and switchboard operator at Campbell Soup Co. On October 30, 1971, she married James K. Musshel, son of Robert and Irma (Dehnke) Musshel. Jim is an aircraft mechanic with the 180th Tactical Fighter Unit based at Toledo, Ohio, and is a member of the Ohio Air National Guard. Prior to this, he served with the Air Force for four years. They reside at Route 2, Napo leon, Ohio, where they built a new home. Mara Jean and Jim have two children, Bradley Robert, born Feb. 27, 1973, and Shelly Renee, born April 5, 1974. They are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
Nanette Jane Rohrs was born Nov. 11, 1956. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1975. She plans to attend Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in the fall. She was the recipient of the Heller Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship in 1975.
Gayla Sue Rohrs was born Nov. 3, 1960. She attends Liberty Center School where she will be a 9th grader in the fall of 1975.
Both Nanette and Gayla are members of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio, along with their parents.
In the spring of 1975 Art and Denelda purchased the farm in Liberty Twp., formerly owned by his father, Carl H. Rohrs. This is the farm they moved to back in 1946 when they were married. Art is currently serving as a Director of the Federal Land Bank Assn., of Bowling Green, Ohio, and for more than 15 years has been representing Liberty Twp. as a director on the Henry Co. Red Cross Board. Besides farming and raising hogs, they also have a flock of laying hens, and have been selling the eggs on a route in Napoleon for a number of years.
Vernon W. Rohrs was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Liberty Twp. and attended Liberty Center High School, graduating in 1946. He received the State Farmer Degree. He is a baptized and confirmed member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio. Vernon held various church offices and served as Sunday School Supt. for a number of years. On Nov. 7, 1948, he married Janice Genter (born Dec. 3, 1929) daughter of Aaron J. and Emma (Bruns) Genter from Ridgeville Twp. Vernon farmed with his father-in-law for 7 years until they moved to the Elmer Steward farm in Liberty Twp., where they have now resided for 20 years, purchasing part of it in the last year. Vernon is engaged in general farming and also raises hogs. Janice is a teletype operator at Sears in Napoleon. They are the parents of three children - Dawn Colleen, Faith Annette, and Kurt Vernon.
Dawn Colleen Rohrs was born May 19, 1951. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1969 with honors and from Bowling Green State University in 1973 with a degree in education. On June 11, 1972, she married John Lee Sharpe, son of Bill Lee and Phyllis (Gramling) Sharpe, Liberty Twp. John graduated from Liberty Center High School and Bowling Green State University. He now teaches industrial art at Patrick Henry High School and Dawn teaches first grade in the Napoleon City School System. They reside in Liberty Twp. and are members of Liberty Chapel Methodist Church.
Faith Annette Rohrs was born Feb. 23, 1954. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1972 with honors and is now a senior at Bowling Green State University, majoring in education and minoring in art. On June 9, 1974, she married Scott Lee Foor, son of Irvin and Pat (Bernius) Foor. Scott graduated from Napoleon High School and is attending Bowling Green State University while working at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, Ohio. They reside in Liberty Twp. and are members of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
Kurt Vernon Rohrs was born Feb. 15, 1957. He graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1975 with honors. He plans to attend Bowling Green State University in the fall in the field of business. Kurt is a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio, along with his parents.
Norbert H. Rohrs was born on Dec. 7, 1930. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanual Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio. He graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1949. He served in the Army from Feb. 2, 1951, to Dec. 3, 1952, being stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and serving in Korea. On July 29, 1951, he married Shirley Proudfoot (born Nov. 13, 1933) daughter of Howard and Mabel (Bortel) Proudfoot. Norbert owns and farms land in both Henry and Fulton County, also raising tomatoes for Campbell Soup Co. He is also a hog producer. They live in Fulton County and are members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon, Ohio, where he is serving on the church Council. Norbert has also been a director of the Fulton County Farm Bureau for six years.
Norbert and Shirley are the parents of three children: Rodney William, Richard Alan, and Kathy Sue.
Rodney was born Oct. 6, 1953. He graduated from Wauseon High School in 1971. He is a meat cutter at Food- land in Liberty Center, Ohio.
Richard was born Sept. 23, 1955, and graduated from Wauseon High School in 1973. He is engaged in farming with his father. He received the State Farmer Degree in 1973 and the American Farmer Degree in 1975.
Kathy Sue was born May 18, 1959. She is attending Wauseon High School where she will be in the 11th grade in the fall of 1975.
