James Roddy Family

James and Martha Roddy had several children including Jane Roddy, born on March 17, 1834, in Pennsylvania.

Jane married Christopher Bates on May 1, 1842 in Seneca County, Ohio. Christopher was born on June 25, 1823 in Stark County, Ohio. He died on March 7, 1872 in Henry County, Ohio. Jane Roddy Bates and her husband, Christopher, moved to Henry County in 1854. Christopher died of typhoid fever.

Christopher and Jane Bates had six children.

Cordelia married on December 5, 1866, Lorenzo Robinson. Malissa (Melissa) married John Davis. Rosa married George Kline, son of Harmon and Catharine Shipman Kline. Rosa is listed as Rosalia Bates on some records. She was born on March 16, 1851, and died on September 30, 1931. George was born on November 24, 1846 and died on April 17, 1918. Sydney Jane married Albert Shasteen. The other Bates children were Annias and Christopher A.
