John E. Reynolds was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on January 28, 1817. He died of malaria on April 8, 1884. He migrated to Ridgeville Township, Henry County, Ohio, in 1846.
He married Elizabeth Mosher who was born in Jefferson County, New York, on December 25, 1815. She was the daughter of William Mosher, the first settler in Ridgeville Township. Elizabeth died on April 10, 1884, two days after her husband, of malaria. Both died in Ridgeville Township, and had joint funerals at the Methodist Church in Ridgeville, and are buried in Locust Grove Cemetery, Ridgeville Corners, Ohio.
Of the eight children born to them, five were living when their parents died.
Charles E. Reynolds was born at Great Barrington, Massachusetts, on June 15, 1844.
He married Sarah E. Parker on September 12, 1866 in Henry County, Ohio. Charles came to Henry County with his parents in 1854.
When he was seventeen years old, he enlisted in Company F., 68th Ohio Volunteer Infantry under Colonel Steedman and Captain W. W. Bowen. He was mustered out, after four years service, in April, 1865.
