Born April 30, 1890, in Napoleon Township, Henry County, Ohio. Deceased December 21, 1969. Marie Rettig was the daughter of Carl F. Loitz and Albertina W. Aderman and was employed at dry goods stores in Napoleon, Ohio (Frank Hahn's, Richard Horn's, and Brown & Van Ness), and as a governess in Phoenix, Arizona, before her marriage to Clarence N. Rettig on February 8, 1914. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Napoleon, Ohio, where she was teacher and superintendent of the beginners department for 30 years. She was also a member in the Napo leon, Ohio, Order Eastern Star. She was the mother of Margaret Ann Rettig and Betty Marie (Rettig) Benien.
