The Leonard Rettig Family

Leonard Rettig, born May 1, 1848 and Catheryn Yaichner, married on February 10, 1870 had the following children:

Martin Rettig, born December 31, 1870, in Henry County, Ohio died September 30, 1944. He married Mat- tie Holman on October 20, 1893. They had four children: James Leonard, Lewis, Gertie, and Charlie. Mattie died in 1918. Martin married again and had one son, Edward. Martin was a farmer and noted for his hunting.

James Leonard was born on November 3, 1894, and died in 1958. He was a great hunter and a farmer. He married Pearl Williams and they had Roy, Kelly and Harvey. Roy has a family and lives in Beebe, Arkansas. Kelly died young. Charles died as a teenager. Pearl died young, and James Leonard married for his second wife, Alice Acock. Their children are:

Anna Mae (Manasco) born December 27, 1918. She married Leroy Manasco on April 12, 1941. They have one daughter, Carolyn, born January 9, 1942 who has one daughter. Their son, Horace, was born September 9, 1936 and has two sons.

Chester Rettig, born on November 19, 1916, married Helen Stiveers on April 5, 1922 and has two sons and one daughter.

James Leonard's wife died and he married Flora Holgate. They had five children. Francis Rettig was born April 18, 1934, married Carlisle Howton on January 27, 1951, and Kathy was born June 15, 1952. Charles Rettig was born August 24, 1936 and married December 28, 1969 to Betty, born July 21, 1948. They have three children. Betty Rettig was born February 26, 1941 and married March 10, 1959 to Ladus C. Bradford, born July 19, 1937. They have Cynthia and Susan. Bobbie Rettig was born July 22, 1944 and married August 4, 1961 to Lloyd Bagshaw, born March 4, 1940, and they have two children. Rickey Rettig was born May 4, 1951 and died May 4, 1951.

Martin and Mattie Rettig's second child, Lewis Joseph Rettig, was born on February 8, 1903. He was a plumber and a hunter. He married Minnie Mabel (Johnson) who was born September 20, 1906. They had two daughters, Marie and Dorothy. Minnie died in 1918 from blood poisoning. Lewis married second, Mary

Hammock, and had one child, Geraldine. Dorothy lives in Houston, Texas and no record of her family is known to the author. Marie was born September 25, 1922 and married Vernon Blufford Hallum, born March 12, 1918. Their children are Carroll, Judith, Don, Vernon Wayne.

Carroll Joseph Hallum was born May 29, 1942, and married Cunningham and had Janie LaRose, born July 1, 1963 and Frederick Dowell, born December 8, 1966. Carrol and his wife divorced and he then married Mary Jane Cordell, born April 5, 1950 and they have Dina Faye, born August 24, 1974.

Donald Lee Hallum was born February 2, 1951, and married Donna Ruth McMillen who was born September 28, 1951. They have Teresa Marie, born March 2, 1971, and Christy Dawn, born March 7, 1974.

Judith Ann Hallum born December 25, 1952 married Johnnie Mac Tate, born June 28, 1948. Their children are Johnny Mac Tate, Jr., born April 13, 1972 and Cherry Lynn Tate, born June 14, 1974.

Vernon Wayne Hallum, born January 24, 1954 married Bertha Faye Barrentine, born June 20, 1957.

Lewis and Mary Hammock Rettig's daughter Geraldine married Lee Horace Evans, Jr. on December 5, 1952. Their children are Kathryn Lynn Evans, and Geraldine's step-son, Ronald Lee Evans, born January 12, 1948, married Deborah Leigh Harlan on May 31, 1970.

There is no record of Martin and Mattie's third child, Gertie except that she married Carney Woodruff.

Their fourth child, Charlie, married Iva Johnson and had one son, Clinton Rettig. Charlie drowned at an early age.

Martin's youngest child, Edward Rettig, was born November 4, 1924. He married Mabel Collins, on March 13, 1943. Mabel was born March 1, 1925. They had ten children.

Erame Rettig, born March 1, 1944, married November 27, 1962 to Horace Taylor. Betty Taylor was born April 20, 1960; Tammy Taylor was born January 27, 1963; Patty Taylor was born March 5, 1965.

Dorothy Rettig was born April 22, 1945 and married August 25, 1963 to Jimmy Wyatt. Their children are Pamilla, James, Thalisse, and Lloyd.
Carthel Rettig was born June 27, 1947 and married September 23, 1969 to Carolyn Jackson. Lisa, Ronnie, and Michael were born to them.

James Rettig was born July 28, 1948 and married October 6, 1968. He married Carolyn Ruff and they had Janney and Jimmie.

Peggy Rettig was born December 1, 1950 and married Vaughn Henry and had Tony, Therese and Vaughn.

Flor Rettig was born February 9, 1953 and married October 14, 1969 to Bennet Wilson. Their children are Mashella and Malisa.

Charles Rettig was born October 21, 1956 and married Sherry Riggs and had daughter Angela.

Barbara Rettig was born August 26, 1959 and married David Weeks and had a son, Jeffery.

Steve Rettig was born February 28, 1958 and Brenda Rettig was born April 12, 1962.

Leonard Rettig's daughter, Amelia, was born December 7, 1872 at Florida, Ohio and died as an infant. It is not known where she is buried.

Leonard's daughter, Julia was born January 7, 1874 and married Bert Morrison. Their one child, Cora, married Don Bennett and had Kermit, Donald, Maye and Ernest.

Kermit was born March 12, 1912 and married on June 2, 1934 to Bernice Perciful and they had one daughter, Dorothy born May 5, 1935.

Donald, married Lorane Bayette, and had Kenneth and La Nelle. Kenneth has two children.

Maye Bennett married Ernie Williams and their children are Ann, Don, Carolyn. Don has two children.

The fourth child of Leonard, Josa (Joe) was born April 21, 1876. He was a fine guitarist and musician, a farmer and a hunter. He married Lela Miller on December 17, 1921. Lela was born March 18, 1907. One child, Daisey Mae, born August 26, 1830, died as an infant.

The fifth child of Leonard, William Fred Rettig was born November 1879. His history is under William Rettig in this book.

The sixth child, Sophia Lovina Rettig was born March 23, 1882 and died on October 1, 1965. She married Henry Stigall, who died December 18, 1962. To them were born Lena and Emmett. Lena was born July 22, 1902 and married James O. Miller on August 1, 1921. Their children were William, Otis and Walter Miller.

William Forest Miller was born July 25, 1922 and married on November 10, 1947 to Thelma Bolan, born September 24, 1928 and has one child, Linda Kathryn Miller, born October 4, 1949 and married February 18, 1966 to Charles Everett Aaron, born July 14, 1926. Linda and Charles had Mark Charles Aaron, born October 4, 1966 and died November 26, 1966; Michael Leon Aaron, born October 31, 1967; and Curtis Duane Aaron, born May 24, 1969.

Otis Miller was born March 17, 1923 and married Hazel Wilson, born November 13, 1927. They were married November 24, 1946. Their children are Otis Joe, born July 9, 1956 and Barbara Lynn born on September 13, 1958.

Walter married and has one child born on June 11, 1958.

Emmett Stigall, born October 23, 1903 married Nora Skillern, born April 29, 1908. His children are Emogene and June.

Emogene was born September 28, 1929 and married Dub Montgomery who was born September 28, 1929, also. Their children are: Ronnie, born October 11, 1952, Debbie born December 21, 1953, and Terri, born November 12, 1963.

There is no information on June Stigall.

Woodrow Wilson was born on August 18, 1918 and died of pneumonia on January 19, 1936.

Della Rettig, the seventh child of Leonard Rettig, was born on February 7, 1886 and died on September 18, 1953. She married Walter Cobb and had Helen and Cora Lee.

Helen Cobb was born on December 22, 1913 and married Grady Jackson and had sons, Jimmie and Billie Joe. Helen and Grady were divorced and Helen later married a Mr. Tore, who had been born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Children from this marriage are Tony and Carolyn. Helen now lives in Long Beach, California near Billy Joe, Tony and Carolyn who all have families. Jimmie lives in Oklahoma.

Cora Lee married Charles Norton and lives in Norwalk, California and has two children, Rickey and Ruth Ann. Rickey is married and has one son. Ruth Ann is married and has a son.
