In the year 1851 Bedy Redman brought his wife and younger children to Henry County, Ohio. The Red- man's settled on a farm in section 29 of Liberty Township and they were neighbors of the Morey family. Bedy Redman had been born at Shenandoah County, Virginia on August 5, 1803. His parents, Thomas and Susannah (Jackson) Redman came to Muskingum County, Ohio in about 1817. Thomas Redman had served in the War of 1812 as a soldier in the army. Bedy Redman died at Liberty Township on October 18, 1870 and his wife Catherine died sometime after the year 1880. They are buried in Morrison Cemetery in Liberty Township along with two infant daughters.
Among Bedy Redman's family who came to Henry County are the following children; Milton C. Redman, born Sept. 7, 1829, married Mahala Hill at Muskingum County, Ohio on June 9, 1850. Milton Redman was a blacksmith and a well driller. He used the old fashioned method of using a forked stick to locate the water source. When he put in the well for his sister and her husband, Susannah and Jay Morey, at Liberty Township, the only place he could find water was in the front yard and this is where the well was located for many years. Milton Redman at first lived on a farm in Liberty Township, then in Clinton Township, Fulton County, Ohio, later moved back to Freedom Township, Henry County, and finally he returned to Clinton Township in Fulton County. Milton Redman died at Wauseon on June 28, 1906. He was the father of five children: Martha, Julia or Eura, Minerva Jane, Jessie E. E., and Adella B. Redman. Martha married a man by the name of Stutzman. Julia was married at Henry County, Ohio, to Joseph Perry. They lived at Clinton Twp., Fulton County, Ohio, where he was a farmer. Minerva Redman married Harvey Roy Barkman and they lived at Wauseon where he was a long distance lineman for the telephone company. Jessie "Elmer" Redman was married at Henry County, Ohio on March 29, 1883 to Mary R. Ashcraft. Della Redman married Seth Elerton on September 18, 1883 at Henry County, Ohio. They lived at Liberty Township and had one daughter Dola. Dola Elerton married Frank H. Yaunt and they lived at Napoleon.
Susannah Redman, born February 20, 1837, married her neighbor Jay D. Morey. They lived on a farm in section 29 in Liberty Township and they had five children.
Gilmore Redman was born about 1839 and he was a soldier in the Civil War. He served in Co., B, 100th Regt., Ohio Volunteer Infantry but he became missing in action near Atlanta, Georgia in August of 1864 and was never heard from again.
John Redman was born on March 5, 1840 and died on March 10, 1860. He is buried at Morrison Cemetery in Liberty Township.
Margaret A. Redman was born on July 20, 1841. She married William Henry Howe on July 30, 1859 at Liberty Township. William Howe had been born at Erie County, Ohio on October 15, 1836 and he served in the Civil War in Co. A, 68th Regt., Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Their married life was spent at Liberty Center where he worked as head sawyer at the Lamb saw mill. William Howe's life was tragically ended on April 25, 1884 when the boilers at the saw mill exploded. This accident instantly killed Mr. Howe and the engineer Wallace Hackett. After her husband's death, Margaret Howe went to Napoleon where she worked as a dressmaker. They had one adopted daughter Florence Josephine Howe. Mrs. Howe died at Napoleon on August 24, 1920. They are buried at Young's Cemetery at Liberty Center.
Lucy A. Redman, born about 1849, was married on October 6, 1867 to Converse P. Russell. Con Russell, the son of William and Eliza Ann (Ingraham) Russell of Liberty ToWnship, was born at Perrysburg on January 7, 1839. He was at one time a postmaster of Liberty Center. Lucy Russell died on August 6, 1873 at Liberty Center. After the death of his wife and infant son, Con Russell remarried and moved to Custer County, Nebraska.
Mary E. Redman, born November 15, 1850, was married to James P. Martin on September 7, 1869. James P. Martin, born in March, 1848, was the son of Rev. Wilson and Dilla (Pringle) Martin. His father was an early United Brethren minister in Henry County. The young couple lived at Liberty Township and at Columbus Grove, Ohio. They were the parents of a son Maruh A. Martin who died in infancy. Both of the parents died early in life, James died on August 30, 1871 and his wife Mary on April 30, 1874. All three are buried at the Liberty Chapel Cemetery in Liberty Township. James was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of the Columbus Grove Lodge No. 464, I.O.O.F.
Harrison Redman was born in December, 1853 and he married Frances Hicks on March 1, 1882. Their early married life was spent on a farm in
Liberty Township but at the turn of the century Harrison Redman operated a wood and coal yard at Napoleon. Harrison Redman had two children, Earl and Josephine Redman. Both of these children lived at Toledo where they were married.
Adolphus "Doc" Redman married Electa Neff on December 25, 1877. She was the daughter of Michael and Mary A. (Leist) Neff. For a while the Red- man's lived on a farm in Liberty Township and then on a farm in York Township, Fulton County, 0. but they later returned to Liberty Center where he was the constable. Eventually they removed to Toledo where he worked for the Houghton Elevator COmpany. Adolph Redman died at Toledo on June 24, 1933 and Electa Redman followed on Oct. 11, 1942. The Redman's had four children. Lilly, the eldest, was born Janaruy 4, 1879 and she married Guy R. Woodward on Sept. 16, 1900. Unfortunately both suffered from T.B. Guy Woodward died in 1901 and Lilly Woodward on April 6, 1908. After her husband's death, Lilly Redman was courted by Dr. Price of Liberty Center but they never married. Henry Harley Redman was twice married and lived at Toledo. Clyde M. Redman married Guyneth Freed at Toledo where they resided. He and his brother Harley served in the army during World War I. Harry Neff Redman was a barber at Toledo.
Salana or Lilia Redman, the youngest of Bedy Redman's children, was born on October 27, 1858. On June 5, 1879 she married Theodore "Dora" Zollars. He was born on March 26, 1856 and was the son of John H. and Sarah (Wolcott) Zollars. Their married life was spent on farms in Liberty and Freedom Townships. Theodore Zollars died on October 19, 1914 at Napoleon and Lilia Zollars died on May 23, 1921 at Liberty Township. They were the parents of two children: Guy, who died in infancy, and Edwin Zollars who at one time lived at Mobile, Alabama.
