Samuel Rayle's parents were William Noble Rayle, born 1800, died 1867, and Nancy Daringer Rayle, born 1828, died January 31, 1904. Samuel was the youngest child. He was born on September 10, 1851, in Henry County, Ohio.
Samuel married Margaret Duffey in Ohio and later they moved to Boon, Michigan, near Cadillac.
They had two sons born before they left Ohio: Isaac Calvin Rayle was born on January 2, 1882, and Frank John Rayle was born on August 2, 1885. Isaac Calvin died on December 16, 1888.
Frank John moved with his parents to Michigan. He married Lillian Marie Peterson who was born on December 7, 1895, at Lockport, Illinois. She was a school teacher in a rural school near Boon, near where Frank and Samuel were farming.
Frank and Lillian had one son named Donald Rayle. Donald was born on December 20, 1923, in Cadillac, Michigan. Soon after his birth the family moved to Lake City, Michigan, where Frank and his father continued to farm. Frank also worked in the lumber camps, driving teams of horses hauling logs and various jobs connected with lumbering, which was a thriving thing at the time
Samuel passed away in February, 1941. Soon after this Frank and his family moved to Luther, Michigan, where he bought the home that Donald's family still live in. Lillian Rayle passed away on February 20, 1958.
Donald Rayle was married on June 10, 1950, to June Dorothy Nichols who was born on September 6, 1930, in Jackson, Michigan. Donald and June had four children: Mary Jo Rayle was born on June 10, 1951; Brent Donald Rayle was born on May 6, 1954; Deborah Sue Rayle was born on December 9, 1959; and Julie Ann Rayle was born on April 23, 1965.
Frank Rayle died on September 17, 1974.
Mary Jo Rayle married Donald H. Nixon on August 9, 1968, and they have two sons: Douglas Gene born on November 20, 1969, and Bradley Donald born on March 6, 1975, both born in Cadillac, Michigan.
Donald Rayle works for the Lake County Road Commission and lives on the 640 acre farm. He makes maple syrup each spring, and raises some beef cattle. June Rayle is a postal clerk at the post office in Luther, Michigan. Brent Rayle is a carpenter, and the two younger girls are still in high school and college at this time.
Mary Jo Nixon lives on the same home farm as her parents live, and grandparents lived. She and her husband are building a new home on the farm at this time.
