Mr. Randall was the son of Thomas and Nancy Randall and was born at Rockland, Maine in 1830. He married Angie S. Swigart, who was born at Newark, Ohio, in 1837, and was the daughter of Captain George and Mary Swigart.
Leverett and Angie Randall had four children: Inez, Alfred, Ortez, and Mary.
He came to Henry County in 1847 with his parents. He enlisted in the 68th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and was commissioned a lieutenant in Company B. In 1862 he became quartermaster.
In 1863 he was assigned duty on Major General Robert K. Scott's staff and remained on that duty during the remainder of the Civil War.
