My father, Herman Rabe, married Emma Precht in 1909 and after a few years moved to her father's farm and helped him farm. They had three children, Rudolph, Louise, and Julia.
In 1919 they bought a farm just east of the present D.T. and I. Railroad on present State Route 24 and while they lived there that railroad was built. I can remember some of the workersboarded with us during the week, and on weekends would buy butter, eggs, cottage cheese, buttermilk, etc. from us to take home to their friends and families in the city.
In 1925 they sold that farm and bought a 103 acre farm just west of Liberty Center, Ohio. They were members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon since 1919.
Herman Rabe died in 1949 and Emma Rabe in 1959.
In 1963 my father's cousin's estate in Germany was settled, and since there were no relatives left in Germany, it was sent to the United States to be divided among relatives here. Since my father had died in 1949, his share was divided between his three children and to the right a copy of the letter and check which I received.
