Henry John and Anna Youngman Rabe landed in the U.S. in 1883, formerly from Germany where they had a son and twin daughters born to them. The twins died in Germany, the last one just a short time before they were to sail for the U.S. They had already sold all their belongings and had their tickets bought, so they had to sail, but that made it a very sad trip. They homesteaded on a farm northwest of Hamler, Ohio and farmer. They joined Hope Lutheran Church,'Hamler, Ohio. Six children were born to them in Henry County, four sons and two daughters. The mother Anna died in 1897 at the age of 41 and the father Henry died in 1914 at the age of 65.
