Ransom P. Osborn was 'a deputy sheriff, Napoleon town marshal, city recorder and was elected county recorder in 1874.
He was an enlistee in the Civil War serving in the 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Co. G. of the 38th O.V.I., and in the 163rd Ohio National Guard, Company G. of which he was elected captain.
He was born in Albany, New York in 1832 and married in 1862 to Caroline Kahlo, daughter of Henry Kahlo, of Germany. She was born in Germany in 1843.
Ransom and Caroline had two daughters, Hattie, born 1864 and Nellie born in 1865.
