Standing: Annie L. Naugle, Dodd Hudson, DeWitt, Elwood and Charles Naugle; seated: Olive E. (Hudson), Margaret and Hannah Naugle.
The Naugle Family originally came from Holland and settled in Pennsylvania.
Solomon was born in 1796 in Pennsylvania. In 1825, his son Phillip was born. They moved to Seneca County, Ohio, where Phillip married Margaret Ann Dodson on August 8, 1848. In 1849, the Naugle family settled in Henry County. Solomon worked as a plasterer and his son, Phillip, as a brick mason. The father and son built brick farm homes and brick homes in Napoleon. One of the homes they constructed in Napoleon is still standing and being lived in. Phillip served in the 38th Ohio Regiment in 1862. He died February 15, 1863, leaving a widow and six children: Olive E., De Witt B., Elwood D., Hannah M., Annie L., and Charles P. De Witt Naugle was a prominent teacher and spent his life following that profession.
There are now only three first cousins left: Fern White, Winfield, Kansas; and Ruth Bressler and Mark Naugle of Napoleon, Ohio.
