Charles Clinton Morey, the youngest child of Jay and Susannah (Redman) Morey, was born at Liberty Township on January 23, 1867. His early life was spent on the Morey farm in Liberty Township. Charles Morey was married on September 18, 1887 at Morenci, Michigan to Kittie Adele Brodnix. She was born on July 26, 1869 at Napoleon and she was the daughter of John and Almira (Sagers) House Brodnix.
Her father, John Brodnix, served in the Civil War in Co. G, 20th Regt., Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The Brodnix's lived at Napoleon for many years. Their house, which at one time stood on the site of the present post office building at Napoleon, was moved to a new site on Riverview Avenue where it still stands today. One of the beautiful marble fireplaces from this house was donated by their grandson, Leo Sloan, to the Henry Ford Museum at Dearborn, Michigan. As a young girl Kittie Brodnix attended the Napoleon Union School.
After their marriage, Charles and Kittie Morey lived in the pioneer Morey house in section 29 of Liberty Township. The Morey's had four children all born at Liberty Township: Dale Albert, born Sept. 30, 1888; Georgia Susan Almira, born Dec. 14, 1889; Elizabeth Edna "Bess," born May 29, 1892; and Ruby Kathryn, born Feb. 27, 1896. In January, 1914 they moved from the farm to Napoleon. At one time Charles Morey was the sales agent for Republic trucks at Napoleon. About 1934 the Morey's moved to a farm at Oak Shade, Fulton County, Ohio.
Charles C. Morey died at Morenci, Michigan on January 6, 1937. After her husband's death, Mrs. Morey returned to Napoleon where she worked at the Nettie Stevens Millinery shop until the time of her final illness. Kittie Morey died at Allen Park, Michigan on March 21, 1950. They are buried in the Morrison Cemetery in Liberty Township.
Dale Albert Morey married Wanda Belle Duffy, daughter of Frederick and Ella S. (Bliss) Duffy of Napoleon, at Detroit on Sept. 30, 1915. They lived in Ecorse, Michigan where he died on August 12, 1968. Dale Morey is buried at Napoleon. Wanda Morey is still living at Ecorse.
Georgia Morey was a graduate of the Napoleon High School and she was a teacher for six years. She married Murrel G. Yarnell on August 24, 1913. He was the son of Philip and Elura (Sworden) Yarnell. The younger Yarnells lived at Napoleon where Georgia worked for the L.P. Krause coal and builders supply as a bookkeeper and Murrel was an electrician. Georgia Yarnell died on November 11, 1944 at Napoleon and Murrel died on March 4, 1967. They are buried in the Forest Hill Mausoleum.
Bess Morey was also a graduate of the Napoleon High School. After graduation she worked in the office of the gas company at Wauseon where she met and married Leo Anthony Sloan on July 29, 1913. The Sloan family operated the Ohio Gas Light & Coke Company in northwest Ohio. Leo Sloan, the son of John and Mary (Filer) Sloan, was born at Baldwinsville, N.Y. on June 12, 1892. Leo Sloan was tragically killed on June 11, 1915 after being hit by an electric car of the T. & L. electric line. At the time of the accident he had been in the company of his brother, Harry Sloan, and they had been fixing a ditching machine between Stryker and Archbold. While waiting for the car to take them back to their home at Bryan, Leo Sloan somehow fell into the path of the approaching car and as it passed he was struck and badly mangled. After struggling to keep his brother alive, Harry Sloan got his brother to Stryker where Leo died the following day. Leo and Bess Sloan had two children: Marjorie F. Sloan (she married Loyd Earl) and Leo A. Sloan, Jr. Later Bess Sloan returned to Napoleon where she married Floyd Herkimer. The Herkimers moved to Allen Park, Michigan and Bess Herkimer is still living there. Floyd and Bess Herkimer had one daughter, Barbara (now Mrs. Theodore Center).
Ruby K. Morey was married to William B. O'Lynnger. He was a railroad engineer for the D.T. & I. and they lived at Flat Rock, Michigan for many years. They have two sons: Lowell Morey O'Lynnger and Harold J. O'Lynnger.
