George and Anna Margaret Frances (Link) Miller came to Pennsylvania from Germany in 1854, a trip of 40 days. In 1856 they moved to Henry County to be near her sister who lived on the now Orville Rohrs farm. They bought 20 acres in Adams Township, Defiance County, and 40 in-Ridgeville Township, Henry County. Later they bought 20 more acres in Henry County and built a log house where the Miller Homestead is now.
Children born to them were John Miller who married Elizabeth Nolte, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Keller, Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Beck and two who died in infancy.
Elizabeth Nolte had been a teacher in Germany starting to teach at age 14 and when she came to America she taught in Defiance, Ohio. John Miller and Elizabeth Nolte met through church activities in Defiance.
The John Millers had two children. Margaret married Jerome Smith. Their children were Matilda, Norah, John, Blanche, Florence, Jerome, Raymond, Orville, Evelyn, Harold and Margaret Ann.
John and Elizabeth's other child was Joseph who married Addie Meyer.
Addie (Adelia) was the daughter of Herman .and Anna (Borchet) Meyer.
Herman was one of six children: Mrs. Casper (Mary) Mueller, Herman, John, Henry, Fred, Chris.
Anna Borchet came from Luxembourg. She and Herman Meyer met while working in the vineyards on Kelley's Island. Two of their children, Ben (married Eugenia Goller) and Lydia (married Eugene Maddock), were born on the Island. Herman brought his family back to this area living first in Adams Township then Tiffin Township in Defiance County. Eight more children were born to this couple: Will (married Clara kelue), Mary (married — Hill), John (married Louise Dehnke), Danny (killed by lightning), Amid, and Adelia (married Joseph Miller), and two babies who died in infancy.
Joseph (Joe) Miller and Adelia (Addie) Meyer were married in April 27, 1910, by Rev. Herman Schult in the parsonage of Bethlehem Lutheran Church on the Ridge Road south of Ridgeville Corners. They lived the rest of their lives on the Miller Homestead that his Grandfather (George) had settled. They were faithful members of the Ridgeville Congregational Church until it closed, then they transferred to the United Church of Christ in Archbold. They were members of the Century Farm Organization, active members in Farm Bureau and charter members of the Napoleon Egg Auction. Joe served on the Ridgeville School Board for two terms.
Addie and Joe had six children: Janet, Mary, Betty, Dolard, Mavis and John.
Janet married Francis Schudel of Defiance, son of Albert and Matilda (Sillibourne) Schudel. She attended Bowling Green College and taught 25 years, retiring in 1975. Francis (Pinkey) is a retired A&P employee. Their children are Tom, Mary Louise and Nancy. Tom married Jane Tomford of Lima. They have two children, Emily and Michael. Tom and his family live in Regina, Saskatchewan where he is head of the music department at Regina University. Mary Louise married Jack Reber of San Diego, California where they now live.Their children are Aaron, Jason and Nathan. Mary graduated from Bowling Green State University and now teaches in a Montessori School in San Diego. Nancy graduated from Ohio State where she met and married J. Steve Amaral.
Nancy is an editor with Chemical Abstracts, an affiliate of OSU.
Mary married John T. Westrick of Defiance, son of Jacob and Annie (Ashbacher) Westrick. John is a retired dairy farmer and is an associate real estate salesman in Defiance. She attended Bowling Green College and taught for a short time. Their children are John Jr. (Weck), Joan, Karen, and David. Weck resides with his parents near Defiance. Joan attended Bowling Green State University and was a secretary in Defiance and Columbus. She married Dr. Kenneth Kling of Defiance and they have a son, Kristopher David. They now live in Wauseon where she assists Ken in his Optometric practice. Karen married Kenneth Brown of Newark, New Jersey. They met at St. Francis College in Fort Wayne where Karen received a degree in Laboratory Technology. They now live in Monroe, Louisiana with their two sons, Brian and Bradley. David graduated from Bowling Green State University and is now a deputy with the Defiance Sheriff's Department and is an appraiser of real estate. He married Ann Imber of Defiance and they live on the Westrick Homestead near Defiance.
Betty graduated from Bowling Green State University and has taught school for "several years", first in Ridgeville Local School and now the Archbold Area Schools.
Dolard passed away in infancy.
Mavis married Donald Armbruster, son of Frank and Amelia (Huber) Armbruster. She attended Bowling Green College in a business education course. She has been a bookkeeper at the Egg Auction, Campbell Soup and Augenstein and Hoeffel in- Napoleon. Don is a real estate broker in Napoleon. Mavis and Don have one daughter, Diane who is married to David Strock of Liberty Center. They have two children, Sheila (born in Germany while David was stationed there in the service) and Jeffie. The now live in Napoleon.
John married Virginia Behnfeldt, daughter of Ferd and Lorena (Rohrs) Behnfeldt of Ridgeville Corners. Virginia was employed as a bookkeeper at the Telephone Company in Napoleon prior to their marriage. John is a graduate of the College of Agriculture of Ohio State and an Army veteran. They have four sons: Scott, Kevin, Kurt and Kent. Scott is a graduate of The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute at Wooster, Ohio. He is associated with his father in the dairy business and recently was married to Sharilyn Robertson also of Ridgeville Corners. Kevin is a junior at Ohio State and Kurt is a freshman at Ohio State. Kent is a fifth grade student in the Archbold Area School system. The whole family is actively involved in the dairy operation, also church and community activities. John is presently a director of Milk Marketing, Inc. and has served in various offices of local dairy organizations.
