Daniel Middleton was the son of Basil and Marguerette (Hartman) Middleton. Basil was horn March 10, 1818 in Virginia. Shortly before the Civil War, he moved the family to Ohio. They settled near Liberty Center, Ohio. Basil served in 67th Inf., Co. H., of the Ohio Army during the Civil War. Basil died of tuberculosis on October 16, 1884. Basil and and his wife are buried at Youngs Cemetery at Liberty Center, Ohio.
Daniel was born July 14, 1842. He married Sarah (Hopkins) on June 18, 1876. Sarah was the daughter of Phineas and Johanna (Huffman) Hopkins. The couple made their home near Liberty Center, Ohio. Several years later the family moved to Harrison Township. On January 26, 1889 Daniel bought a farm one mile west of McClure. The farm contained forty (40) acres of land and he paid $1,100 for the farm. They moved to McClure on or about April 1, 1889. The family lived here and the children grew up on the farm doing various chores. Daniel died February 26, 1920 and is buried at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center, Ohio. Sarah died January 15, 1924 and is buried at Olive Branch Cemetery, near McClure. They had seven children: Preston, Margaret, Blanche, Kin- son, Orman, Martha and Garniel.
PRESTON MIDDLETON was born 1877 in Liberty Township. He served in the Army during the Spanish- American War in 1898. Preston worked for the New York Telephone and Telegraph Company. He married Emma Louise Havens. They made their home in Penn Yann, New York. Preston enjoyed going hunting. Preston died in 1951 and his wife died in 1971. They had no children.
MARGARET (MIDDLETON) EDELMAN was born on October 15, 1879. She married Charles Edelman. They had a son George Russell Lowell Edelman. Margaret died March 29, 1967 and is buried at Beaver Creek Cemetery near Findlay, Ohio.
George Russell Lowell Edelman was born August 9, 1901 in Whitehouse, Ohio. He attended Findlay College for two years. Lowell married Edna Fenberg on June 9, 1922. He served two years in the Army during World War I. His hobbies were fishing, camping, bowling and growing flowers. Lowell died December 25, 1969. They had two children: Jean and Richard.
Jean (Edleman) Bissell was born August 16, 1923 in Pontiac, Michigan. She married Denver W. Bissell on June 9, 1945. They have four children: Thomas, Marc, Julia and Leslie.
Richard Charles Edelman was born February 22, 1927 in Amesthburg, Canada. He married Marjoriellen OConnell on November 14, 1945. They have three children: Richard Lowell, Ronald Lawrence, and Pamela Rochelle (Edelman) Miller.
BLANCH (MIDDLETON) MACINTOSH was born May 20, 1882. She was divorced. Blanch died September 20, 1916. She is buried at Olive Branch Cemetery.
KINSON (KEN) MIDDLETON was born October 14, 1884 in Harrison Township. When he was a young man, the family moved to McClure. He worked for the Telephone Company and a saw mill near McClure. Several years later he bought a tavern in McClure, which was known as "Ken's Bar". He operated the tavern with the help of his brother, Garn. When Ken died in 1951, his bar was sold to Fritz Kaufman and now known as "Fritz's Bar".
ORMAN MIDDLETON was born on May 28, 1887 in Liberty Township. He served in the Army during World War I. He worked for the Telephone Company. Several years later he worked for the railroad. Orman married Mary Ruff. They made their home in Ottawa, Ohio. Orman died in 1960.
MARTHA (MIDDLETON) DELVENTHAL was born May 27, 1890. She married Henry Delventhal. They made their home on U.S. Route 6, at Bostelman's Corners, about four miles west of Napoleon. Martha died August 1, 1953. They had two daughters: Faye and June.
Faye married Franklin Hahn. Their children are: Robert, Paul, and Sue. They live in Napoleon.
June married Blain Penny. They had two children: Ted and Jill. Her husband, Blain passed away. June remarried Stanley Blitz. They operated the "Party Shop" in Napoleon, until 1977 they retired and moved to Florida.
GARNIEL (GARN) MIDDLETON was born December 30, 1894. He was the youngest child of the family. Garn married Frances Killion. They had eleven children: Edyth, Charles, Doris, Kathryn, Phyllis, Dick, Louise, Edwin, George, James D. and Derry. Garn was the only son, to have sons, to carry on the family name. Garn died May 23, 1967.
